Cube Side Table

This Cube Side Table is a bajillion dollars… oh, wait, never mind, it’s less than $150. Good deal, eh? It’s got a black marble base with an oak veneer top, and with a 15.5″ diameter, it’ll probably fit into those tight spots and corners with room to spare. After all, with all of your upcoming holiday entertaining, you don’t want someone setting their champagne on the floor (gasp!), do you?

Coleman Height-Adjustable End Table

If the Coleman Stool and the Coleman Camp Stool are to your liking, chances are that you’ll want to own the End Table. It features the same geometric base and adjusts from 22 to 28 inches in height, which makes it a cross between an end table, stool, and even a low bar stool. Spin the tabletop clockwise or counterclockwise to raise or lower it to the right height.

Snaregade Tables by Norm.Architects

Need a dining table or work surface? You can’t go wrong with one of the three Snaregade* Tables by Norm.Architects, as it has such slender supports for its oak veneer tabletop. That leaves plenty of room for legs, and, with such a spare and elegant look, it would be right at home in the dining room or office. The Snaregade was originally a one-off design for Bjarne Hansen, Menu’s creative director and founder, but Norm.Architects were so fond of it they made a few for their own studio. Now, thankfully, it’s a collection available to all.

Crosscut Trestle Legs

Don’t get too excited; that price you see to the right is for the trestle legs only, not the whole dining table. But, hey, maybe you’re excited about that price for just the trestle legs, as that means you can add whatever top you wish and have a great, portable option for your work or for feeding your face. Two pieces of laser-cut steel and six oak legs make up the Crosscut Trestle Legs set, and, as you can see from the product photo, the cylindrical legs fit neatly into the steel. Update: Now on sale from the Dwell Store for $309.99 until quantities last.

Anodised Side Table by Max Lamb

Reduce a side table down to its essentials, and you’d get something similar to the Anodised Side Table by Max Lamb. Made with three sheets of aluminium plate (or aluminum, if you prefer) locked together with four countersunk socket bolts, the low table is left unfinished to highlight the material’s “inherent beauty”. There’s a larger Anodised Coffee Table as well as a wonderful Cobalt and Gold color.

Yeh Wall Table

If you’re short on space, you’ll want to take a look at this Yeh Wall Table by Taiwan-based designer, Kenyon Yeh. Inspired by the position of someone sitting against a wall with their feet placed firmly on the ground, the table rests against the wall with the help of a small, upturned 90-degree angle on its edge. It won’t take up much room, yet will provide just enough space for the essential lamp, stack of books, or coffee cup.

Moon Tables

Sleek! These Moon Tables from Ethnicraft’s Universo Positivo collection strikes the right note with their solid oak tops and lacquered stainless steel sides. The slight rim helps corral any miscellany- not that you have any- and the materials give a refined feel to a rather simple, no-frills design.

Knockout Side Tables

Simplistic side tables always get my vote, but these cross over into the minimalistic category, which has me making imaginary placards in their honor. They’re just so serious, and would be especially great next to a silly chair or sofa (you know the term: juxtaposition). With several shaped bases in solid white marble, black marble, or green Swedish marble, you’ll have to consider a cluster (if you can afford it) of tables together for maximum impact. Or just get one, and admire its pedestal-like presence.

UX4 Bracket Kit

Get a UX4 kit, a few 2x4s, a table surface, and you’re on your way to making your own custom table. How does that work, you ask? SWENYO’s UX4 Kit is a set of four steel brackets that accept 2x4s as legs. Want a standing desk? Cut your 2x4s at around 40″ (or just below your elbow height), slot them into the brackets, and screw the brackets onto your desk surface. TA-da! You’re done. Change the height and the top and make a coffee table, a dining table, or a nightstand. Further customize with paint. Fun!

Wall Desk by Norm.Architects

Small desks that fold away are rare these days, despite all of the laptops and tablets floating around us at home. That’s exactly why this minimalist drop-down Wall Desk catches the eye. It’s suited for a small work surface or as a minimalist valet or dressing table. There’s a cable management compartment for hiding messy cords away, and you’ve got the option of folding up the whole thing to keep things tidy and to create more space. And, to sweeten the deal, Menu is offering 20% off all their goods through the end of March (enter code MS2016 at checkout), so the desk is on sale for $160. Not too bad, eh?

Mesh Coffee Table

Sometimes you want a piece of furniture that strikes just the right note of quiet edginess. Restrained, yet still a little odd in some way. I’d say this Mesh Coffee Table by Bowles & Bowles hits just that note with its airy, steel wire mesh base. Paired with a smoked glass top that reflects light, it’s a great choice for smaller sitting areas, as it will help a room feel larger than it is.

Arco Desk by Design House Stockholm

You’d best steer clear of the Arco Desk if you’re allergic to clutter. However, if you like to arrange things just so and have everything within view, then take a long look at this oak trestle desk with tempered glass top. The drawer is completely visible, so there’s no hiding any secretive snacks or less than desirable belongings. The drawer also opens from either side, so feel free to float it away from the walls.

Alle Coffee Tables

Whaaaat the what. There’s a tempting sale over at Hem; the Alle Coffee Tables are so very affordable at the moment you’d be silly not to grab a couple. Don’t be too afraid of the red color, by the way, as it would provide a nice color contrast to an otherwise neutral interior. If that still makes you nervous, there’s black, ivory, pale oak, light blue, gray, eggplant, and walnut- all excellent choices.

Simone Table and Bench

If you’re looking for a super-minimal table or bench, you might like the looks of the Simone Collection by 57st. design. Double-thick Baltic birch plywood has dovetailed ends (spaced in irregular intervals) for visual interest and overall strength. The short or long bench would do well in an entryway or hallway, and won’t break the bank, thankfully. Free shipping, too, just in case that sweetens the deal.
