Bowls Trays

Fat Tray from Alessi

This tray will cut your trips to and from the dining room in half. It’s a bamboo wood container with a lid that also acts as a tray, meaning you can put dishes and such inside and have a second layer to stack food or drinks. A moveable separator inside keeps things organized.

Amelia Snail Dish

Apparently this polished stainless steel dish by Lluis Clotet is an homage to the characters from the novels of the Spanish poet Foix (of which a context is not so easy to find). Whatever the homage, there’s no doubt that this dish could be a functional art piece, though it would hurt to see it get scratches, wouldn’t it?

Dimension: 1.5 in. H x 7.25 in. Diam.

Neo’s Crocheted Rubber Bowls

Crocheted Rubber! Apparently they feel soft and silky, and given that they’re made from neoprine rubber, it’s an elegant contrast of traditional methods (i.e. crochet) with unexpected materials. They’d be excellent little bowls to hold all sorts of things given their strength and durability.

Available in Black, Gray or White.

Small, 7″x 7″x 4″(h): $48.00
Medium, 9″x 9″x 4.75″(h): $64.00
Large, 11.5″x 11.5″x 5.5″(h): $89.00
(Sizes nest together)

Slideshow: Cork Bowl Roundup

Instead of doing lots of little posts on each individual cork bowl I’ve come across, I’m going to do one big one covering the ones I’ve bookmarked so far.

Cammeo Collection Ceramic Containers

This ceramic container has certainly caught my eye. It’s got a great form, it’s colorful, and it juxtaposes two materials not commonly seen together; ceramic and rubber. Each jar comes with six different colored rubber bands. Sizes range from 95, 110, 150 mm.

Box Gift

This is perfect for that person on your list who you have no idea what to get. It’s a box shaped like a gift. Done.

“Box Gift” memorializes the fleeting moment of gift-giving. Try as one might, this wrapping cannot be torn off and thrown away. Think of all the paper and ribbon that will be saved. Think of the joy that will come each time the recipient dusts. “Box Gift” is the gift that keeps on giving.

Concrete Heart

Darkly romantic, indeed. Imagine the possibilities of gifting this…so many things you could write to accompany a concrete heart. (a. concrete. heart. freaking amazing.)

A hand cast concrete heart which opens to reveal a hollow centre. Give someone a heart, fill it with a message of love or a ring of diamonds. A darkly romantic gift. Each heart is hand cast and may differ in colour and finish slightly.

FS bowl (Futuresystems)

I know what you’re thinking, such intricacy in a nylon bowl must mean Selective laser sintering, right? I thought so too. And might it reside in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, did you say? Why, yes, it does. That’s why it costs just under $10 G’s. (A bargain, really, isn’t it?)

Up in the Air Somewhere: New Items

I’ve posted some of Susan’s work before, but I have to say her new items are worth another post. I love how delicate the bowls appear…and those factory vessels (shown top left) would add a nice sculptural element to a desktop/tablescape.

Niche Centerpiece

Such an interesting piece with a really reasonable price tag…

niche can quite simply be considered a domestic sculpture. the composition of formally complex pieces results in a unique and sinuous dovetail effect. as soon as you see niche you want to take a piece in your hands so you can feel what to the eye appears to be an attractive, sinuous and velvety object. it can be a centerpiece made up of 5 pieces, each of which can be used as an individual receptacle for sweets or chocolates, or it can be used on a desk to hold office stationery and pens. -unicahome.com

Ibride Trays (round 2)

Ibride keeps hammering out weirdly amusing trays that have some of us itching to clear some wall space (those of us that ‘collect things’).

As one can see in the collection of trays, which are not only sturdy and beautiful while in use but also become elegant wall décor statements. Through magical imagery and intricate lattice work, these items simultaneously create a modern and yet nostalgic feeling. Each tray is constructed to last using a century old technique. Created of high pressure laminate each of Ibride’s items are thoroughly functional and lifestyle enhancing at the same time.
