The panels of this credenza move around to display your worldly goods in a coy sort of way. The lower shelf is tall enough for lp’s and there are holes in the back sized perfectly for cords of all sorts.

The shape and proportion of this buffet looks remarkably like my walnut knoll credenza. For a little DIY, you can make this look a lot better by simply getting rid of the spindly 50’s legs and replace them with something more architectural looking, like these Ikea kitchen cabinet legs. My Knoll credenza has 6 legs (center supports in front and back), so I would purchase two sets of the legs.

This would be perfect in an office (as intended by Knoll) or you can also use it as an entertainment center.

It seems to me that we would’ve posted this before, though I can’t seem to find any record of it. And if we have, I think it’s well worth another entry. It’s such a great design and so terribly great-looking as to inspire need (as in, I need that piece of furniture). And, of course, it’s by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Cappellini (2004).

Whenever there’s a comma in a price tag, I get a little nervous. But I think something like this would be timeless, so the comma would be a relatively small price to pay for something that would last decades.

Oh, I do believe this little shelf is worth highlighting. The unfinished edge gives it a nice natural texture and makes it a bit more special than just any ol’ modern floating shelf.

From the studio of Joe Columbo (currently being run by Ignazia Favata) comes the Spinny Cabinet which rotates around a central spine. Also available is a wall mounted version. I am pretty excited about that one. I think it would not only be visually stunning but also think of how convenient it would be.

This piece would be perfect as a floating divider or along a wall in multiples. But, hey, if you just want one against a wall to show off your stuff, then that would be good too. There’s also a shorter version with four openings/cubicles.

This is a nice storage piece for the office or living room. The construction is a nice thick solid steel which is painted.

I thought this a clever idea for magazines…no doubt that some enterprising soul will be able to make this for a little less than what this particular one is selling for, but nevertheless, it’s worth pointing out.
And, I guess if you’ve got the money, you might as well spend it on this, right?

We’ve posted stuff from the Scrapile guys before. If you’ve forgotten, here’s the run down. I think their work is pretty awesome. They take something that would have just filled our landfills and turn it into something useful and nice to look at. Also, they use non-toxic glue coupled with their intense woodworking skills.

I’m positive I’ve seen this before. Maybe I might have passed it over for something more flashy or sleek, but upon further investigation I think it’s worth serious consideration. It’s a bookcase that won’t overshadow what you put in it, yet still stands strong on it’s design-award-worthy-legs.

You also have your choice of cherry or maple veneer shelving unit with tubular steel legs.

Vintage shopping can be difficult because if you have something in mind that you’re looking for, chances are you could search for a very long time until you find it. But if you’re on a budget, I recommend vintage shopping over shopping at IKEA, because the pieces have lasted fifty years and will last another fifty, unlike their MDF counterparts.

The people at Two Jakes (Jake and Jake?) make your job a little easier by offering some great older pieces at low prices. Check them out. This credenza is $225, a comparable price for an IKEA credenza.

I’m quite fond of this credenza. I’ve long been looking for something just like this to hold that stuff that needs to be stored, and the black accent on the end of this caught my eye. The orange insides certainly help as well.
