Manual Coffeemaker

Talk about slowing down to enjoy the brew, this Manual Coffeemaker will force you to do just that. The double-walled Borosilicate glass shell keeps in heat while sitting upon a bamboo base; just add a filter and your grounds, pour in hot water, and then wait patiently while your coffee drips slowly into your cup. It’s a pretty alternative to other more clunky and robust setups.

Hay & Scholten & Baijings’ Crystal Carafe

Yes, we have featured Scholten & Baijings’ Colour Crystal Stemware before. Well done for paying attention. However, not much fuss was made over the Crystal Carafes, which is understandable as they have a very subtle touch of color.

Choose the carafe with gradient blue or yellow descending from its top edge, or pick the carafe with gold pooling at its base. Pair a couple of Colour Glass Tumblers along with the carafe for an impressive serving set; water (or cocktails) will look oh-so-elegant.

House Trivets

This wooden trivet folds into a small, architectural “objet d’art.” That in itself is pretty cute, but it also means that it’d be easy to tuck away in a drawer or on a shelf when not in use. There’s a leather loop for hanging as well. Note: this would make a great housewarming gift for a friend or coworker.

Sasso Serving Trays

It’s a large, flat wooden serving tray, so what’s the big deal? As is often the case, the big deal is in the smallest of details. A pebble-like shape finishes in a precise edge, giving the tray a very subtle, sculptural feel that puts the beauty of the wood front and center. But wait, is it too nice for your snacks or hors d’oeuvres? Nope, the price is pretty friendly despite its high-end look.

Slow Coffee Style Carafe Set by Kinto

Coffee usually speeds you up, but what about slowing things down? That frazzled go-go-go pace of your life won’t help your overall well being, as you probably already know (but won’t do much about). Perhaps you could dedicate a few moments to, well, smelling the coffee as it brews. Using the pour-over method, this carafe set brews the coffee slowly, forcing you to slow down and add water bit by bit.

Bambino Kids Set, Warm and Cool

Parents, can we discuss the silly plates and dishes on which you serve your children food? Maybe they like garish pink or blue, or the cartoon characters in colors that would make a discerning adult nauseous, but why not gently steer them towards something easier on the eyes? This tableware by Ekobo Home is still colorful, yet the color is of a softer, quieter variety. Made from bamboo, a renewable natural resource, each piece is dishwasher-safe, so you’ll not need to sacrifice an easy cleanup. The set has four pieces; a cup, a bowl, a deep plate and a spoon, just enough to cover the essentials, or pick and choose your pieces individually.

Wilfa Precision Coffee Maker

You might think this coffee maker looks like a chemistry experiment, and that’s entirely understandable due to its beaker-like tank. Any avid coffee fan knows that it takes a precise temperature and water control to create the perfect cup, and this automatic filter brewer is made for a professional barista’s exactitude*. It also looks pretty cool in action, as heated water (of an optimal 197ºF–205ºF temperature, as recommended by the SCAA) is extracted from the water tank and pumped into the double-wall filter holder. Watch it in action on the retailer’s site to see the full effect.

Naturally Cooling Ceramic Wine Cooler

When you’re drinking rosé or white wine, do you really want to deal with ice and buckets? Nope. Get yourself this Ceramic Wine Cooler from Magisso and then pat yourself on the back for making chilled drinks that much easier. Soak the cooler in cold water for just a few minutes, then let the natural evaporation process keep your bottle perfectly chilled for 2 to 4 hours, no ice necessary. A glazed base prevents water rings. Smart, right? It does the trick; I own one myself and couldn’t be more pleased (unless it somehow opened the bottle of wine for me, of course).
