Marie Louise Lamp by Buro Vormkrijgers

This lamp looks amazing, but you sure would have to save up for it.

“Made of PMMA sheets illuminated by a special fluorescent bulb, Marie Louise is definitely a new take on the traditional table lamp. As with the chandelier “Therese”, and the floor lamp “Josephine”, Marie Louise emits a soft magic glow. A definite eye-catcher in any environment.”

Also available in an engraved version (“shade” only).
Eight color filters available.

INSTEON SwitchLinc Relay Countdown Timer

This would be handy to have in certain rooms like closets or pantries, or anywhere else where you find that you forget to turn the lights off.

“Press the paddle top to turn on the switch and activate the built-in timer, which will automatically turn the light off in 15 minutes. Tap the paddle top again, and the light will stay on for 1 hour. Each additional tap will add another hour to the timer, up to a maximum of 24 hours. If you would like the SwitchLinc Timer to act like a standard switch, press and hold the paddle top for about 2 seconds, and it will stay on until you turn it off.”

Series 21 One Pendant Canopy by Bocci

Of course multiples look spectacular, but it would require more of investment than just one. I love the sculptural, almost-paper-bag look to it.

“the series 21 fixture by omer arbel is a porcelain and borosilicate glass fixture suspended by metal cable to a brushed nickel canopy. inspired by the sporadic arrangement of barnacles on a a substrate in nature, the porcelain is wrapped around glass cones of different sizes, resulting in a unique appearance to each fixture.”

standard cable length is 10′. Now taking advance orders (shipping December 2007).[posted by katie]

Bauhaus Floor Lamp

We’ve posted the Bauhaus Table Lamp, and now there’s a floor lamp version to accompany it. Such a good price…

“The form is classic modern, but the execution’s a total rethink in top to bottom all metal, all white. Pedestal iron base rises clean, straightforward. Shade is a major surprise in handmade smooth aluminum. Un-color is a smashing high-gloss whiteout. Clear cord disappears nicely.”

Patrick Townsend: Orbit Chandelier and String Lights

I’m quite fond of the seemingly random light strings of Patrick Townsend, and the chandelier isn’t too shabby either.

Costanzina Table Lamp

A smaller version of the classic:

“Paolo Rizzato’s Costanzina Lamp (1992) is a diminutive update to his classic Costanza Lamp, which has been copied so frequently, it’s become an archetype of modern lighting. Costanzina’s square brushed-aluminum base firmly holds a coordinating aluminum stem. The polycarbonate shade, which is held together with five aluminum rivets, offers a warm, diffused light and is easy to clean.”

Spotlight Floor Lamp

Not too long ago we posted the Photography Floor Lamp, and I’d say this one is comparable- perhaps this one has slightly more of a modern feel…

“15” tripod base keeps things steady as chrome-plated lamp telescopes from 44″ to 61″ high. Especially effective in multiples. Uses one 75-watt bulb, not included. Sleek anodized aluminum shade. 98″-long cord. The on/off switch is located on the spotlight head.”

Field Bounce Light

I think this fixture is so interesting- the scale and industrial nature are sure to draw attention while doing a very good job of providing light below.

24 Karat Blau Lighting Series by Ingo Maurer

Though the price tag is a bit higher than what most of us have for our lighting budgets, this collection is quite striking (in a strange and interesting way).

“the 24 karat series is constructed of metal, plastic and gold. this lighting series is one that both geometric and organic looking. seeming to have an aged look and a modern design at the same time, the 24 karat lights are one of ingo maurer’s most interesting.”
