Coatracks Hooks

Antique Mirror Coat Hooks

A set of special hooks might just encourage you to hang your coat where it belongs, especially when there’s some “special optical effects” involved, as with these Antique Mirror Coat Hooks by Garth Roberts. A combination of unfinished oak and specially treated mirror cladding make for a pretty set of four hooks, either in Galaxy Blue, Smoke, Antique Silver, or Gold.

Peg Wall Coat Hook

There’s no excuse for disarray when you have an appropriate place for everything, so make sure everything has an appropriate place. Sounds easy enough, but then you actually have to move your limbs to buy, and then install, hooks for coats and accessories so they don’t end up on the chair, bed, or (gasp) floor. Jonah Takagi’s wooden Peg Wall Hook might make the whole experience easier, as you’ll have a nice array of colors to reward you each time you hang your hat, coat, or scarf in the right spot.

Intersect Valet

Here’s yet another option for your entryway landing spot: a set of three brass hooks with a six inch square shelf. The small shelf and span of just three hooks ensures that only the essentials are kept (your phone and/or wallet, plus a bag, scarf, and coat). Let’s hope that will help all the other stuff that we carry around on our bodies get tucked away in their correct spots- away from the door.

Hall-in-One

The only unfortunate thing about this coathanger/mirror is that it’s not yet available in the U.S.; the rest of its attributes place it in firmly in the ‘must have’ category for anyone fond of minimalism. This Hall-in-One birch board has a slim pocket, a mirror, and felt coat and/or key hangers across the bottom edge. It’s the perfect perch for your coat, keys, and other sundries right beside your main entry door. And, if you need more surface area to store your personal miscellany, do take a look at the Coatboard, €479, also by Dimitri Cassiers and available through Mookum.

Slide Hook AS-1

The Slide Hook houses spring-loaded hardware to keep your towels or apparel in place. Slide items into the opening to hold, and, to release, just give a simple tug. This ensures minimal effort on your part- let’s not call it laziness, we’ll call it ‘being efficient’- yes?

Clip Coat Rack

If you’re willing to invest in a strong, well-designed coat rack, turn your eyes toward Nendo’s Clip Coat Rack. Note that its steel bars are at various heights, so hooks and hangers may be hung as well as your bags, hats, and coats. This allows for placement in a dressing area or closet as well as the entry hall.

Jeeves Coat Rack

Cooler weather means jackets and coats, so if you’re not prepared with adequate storage near the front door, now’s the time to get it all sorted. This coat rack by Kay + Stemmer combines four essentials: large hooks for jackets/coats, small hooks for keys and such, an enclosed shelf for mail, and a mirror to make sure you’re presentable. Everything you need all in one spot. And, thankfully, it’s on sale right now over at DWR (reg. $275).

Femme Fatale

I’m sure you’d have fun guessing what this is, but I’ll save you the trouble: it organizes scarves. Attach the leather holder to a coat hanger, pull your scarves through the star shaped incisions, and voilà! Storage for your precious scarves. And, don’t go thinking this is just for the ladies, I know some of you guys are stylish enough to sport a few scarves now and then (or at least when it’s cold).

Eames® Hang-It-All, Black and White

Remember the walnut version of the Eames® Hang-It-All? Well, it was only a matter of time- 3 years, to be exact- when other color options hit the marketplace, and now you have your choice of white or black powder-coat finish. Is your response ‘hooray!’ or ‘ho-hum’? I’m leaning towards ‘hooray’ as the multicolored version can sometimes feel just a tiny bit too colorful in certain environments.

El Gringo – Wall Mounted Surfboard Rack

Make Co., of the Make Bike Rack fame (which we’ve posted before), now brings us this Wall Mounted Surfboard Rack called El Gringo.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there aren’t so many surfboard racks that look at home in your living/dining/hallway area as there are that look like a store display system. And you certainly don’t want your home to feel like you’re selling surfboards, do you? Choose between steel or stainless steel; both versions have cork pads to protect your board. There’s also a small hook for hanging your towel and/or leash. Oh, and just one last thing- if you’re making time for surfing at this tail-end time of summer, you must be doing something right. Long distance high-five from me.

Driftwood Wall Hooks

Whoa, lucky for us, some customers of a certain store didn’t purchase all of the colored driftwood hooks by Keil Mead at full price. Regularly $25, now you can add a few to your home for $9.99 each. Perhaps hang a few along the entrance hall, or in the closet or bathroom? They won’t last long at this price, so best act quickly if you’re interested. Available in Green, Orange, Pink, or Red.

Ready Hook with Mirror

Why not combine a coat hook and mirror? After all, we all need an extra glance at ourselves to make sure we’re presentable. The rounded shape of the hook ensures your coat collar or scarf will keep its shape. Available in six colors.

Clothing rail, Rectangular

So, who wants to spend $399 on a minimalist clothing rail and/or coat rack? I’ll be the first to put my hand up, despite the slightly ridiculous price tag and the fact that it can’t be shipped outside of Australia. Don’t worry, I won’t buy it, but let’s just think of the many unappealing options (search for ‘closet rail hardware’ and you’ll see exactly what I mean) and then let’s compare the minimal iron rail to all the parts and pieces of those other options. There’s something so appealing about reducing a clothes rail down to just an iron rod with hooks, as it would probably decrease our wardrobe to only a few select outfits. Sounds a bit utopian, doesn’t it? There’s also a Vertical and Round version, fyi.

MUCHroom Wall Hook Set

If you continually find yourself piling clothes and bags on the floors or furniture, it’s time to add some wall hooks to your entryway and closet. As you might have guessed from their name, the MUCHroom wall hooks were inspired by mushrooms growing from a forest floor. Sold as a set of 3, the hooks are pre-screwed and come with 3 self-drilling wall anchors, just in case you need them. Also, check out the MUCHroom mini hook for smaller things like keys and such.

Felt Wall Accessories

Hmm, these felt wall accessories would look oh-so-soft and organized in an entryway or above a desk, though it could get a little pricey should you choose to spring for several all at once. I smell a DIY project for someone handy with a drill and staple gun (and precut wood tiles, magnets, clock movement, etc.).
