Zippelin Travel Bag by FREITAG

What a smart idea; the Zippelin Travel Bag by FREITAG deflates for storage. Huh? Yep, it uses an inner tube of a bicycle for its frame, so you can just deflate it and roll it all up when you’re not traveling. Equally impressive is the material each Zippelan is made from- used truck tarpaulins are washed, cut, and fashioned into each one-of-a-kind, colorful bag, so you’ll know exactly which bag is yours when it rolls out in the baggage claim.

G-RO Carry-On Bag

Need new luggage for your holiday travels? Maybe something that can tackle rough roads and cracked sidewalks in all sorts of weather? Take a look at the G-Ro Carry-On Bag’s all-terrain wheels. They’re built to handle any terrain, and because of their larger diameter, the load is closer to its center of gravity. That means the bag balances better and feels lighter as you pull it around all those future, far-flung destinations.

The Twill Weekender

I don’t need any more weekend bags, but I sure am tempted by this one from Everlane. At $98, it’s just enough of an ‘affordable’ choice that it has me thinking my luggage needs an overhaul, and the reverse denim version with leather details is mighty easy on the eyes. There’s several other color options too.

Super Bag Weekender

Hem has a nice selection of modern furnishings, but did you see that they’re also offering the Super Bag Weekender? It’s made of raw linen and Italian leather, and has a generous interior to hold a few outfits plus two padded side pockets for your laptop/tablet and accessories. The pared-down aesthetic is unisex, and you can choose between yellow, blue, and black.

Rolo Luggage

Hmm, would packing and unpacking be easier with this Rolo rollup luggage? For shorter trips, it just might. There’s a hanging hook, so it will fit practically anywhere- closet, door, etc.- without taking up much room. Once it’s up you can easily see all the contents without rummaging around, or packing and unpacking just to get to one thing. And, seeing as you roll it up for transport, all your clothing is compressed to minimize the overall size. Take a look over at Rolo’s site to see more info and pics.

Genius Pack 30″ Extensive Wheeled Upright

Need new luggage? You’ll want to consider the 30″ Extensive Wheeled Upright from Genius Pack, as it has internal organizational compartments and a fancy feature called Laundry Compression Technology™. Both features allow you to pack more without adding extra bags- and that’s music to any frequent flyer’s ears. A neoprene handle and recessed in-skate wheels provide comfort and ease of movement, and there’s an exterior laundry chute for dirty laundry, because nobody wants their clean clothes canoodling with smelly stuff.

Hello My Name Is Luggage Tag

Sure, it’s fine to look all cool when traveling, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a tiny bit of humor to distinguish your bags from others on the baggage carousel. Inspired by the ubiquitous “Hello My Name Is” nametag design, this tag has an I.D. window on its reverse.

Material: PVC

Price: $15.00

Custom Leather Luggage Tag

Now that the holiday season has passed, it’s time to focus on escaping for ski trips or warmer climes. And what will you need to distinguish your bag from all the other black cases at the airport? How about a custom leather tag hand stamped with your name, phone number, and email address? (Skip your address, for safety concerns and/or just in case you move house.) On a personal note, I watched someone receive his very own custom tag on Christmas morning, and that someone (a frequent flyer) looked like Ralphie with a Red Ryder BB gun.

Lipault FOLDABLE Upright Luggage

If you’re the sort that hates wasting space, you might like this foldable luggage from Lipault that comes with its own plastic storage bag. It’ll take up less space in the closet and will be dust free when you’re ready to hit the road. It might also work well for those trips when you know you’ll need more luggage on the way back than on the way there- just pop it into your larger case. There’s an upright version as well as a duffel bag (below).

MUJI Hard Carry Suitcase

MUJI rarely goes wrong, and for that very reason I’m extremely curious how well these suitcases will stand up to the tests of travel. While they don’t meet FAA carry on guidelines (45 linear inches is the maximum), they do look durable and are much more affordable than some other similarly attractive hardcases. More info below.

Travelteq Trip

Back in March Travelteq’s first product made a pretty impressive debut. Their Trash Bag is a great laptop/office/overnight bag to carry everything you need.

Now they have brought out a bigger bag and it’s a beauty. It’s small enough to fit onboard yet will carry plenty of your kit for a short trip or a long weekend away. It has a ‘kangaroo pocket’ for the stuff you want to get to: laptop, magazine, phone, it has fold-out legs to turn it into a seat when you’ve had enough of traipsing round duty free and with the slightly more expensive Trip Sound you get speakers and an iPhone/Blackberry charger – incredible. It seems like they’ve thought of everything.

Buy yours now for the introductory rate of €595 or €650 for the Trip Sound before it goes back up. Later on they’ll introduce an Italian leather version. Seriously people you’ve got it all.

Purchase Information:

Price: €595.00 or 650.00 for Trip Sound

Accordion Bag

No more unpacking? Can it be true? This bag’s accordion strap allows for open shelf storage when hung, meaning you can do without hangers and hotel drawers. When folded, it looks like a normal-ish bag (in reflective material) that’s easy enough to carry around. It’s worth mentioning that the hook looks a little worrisome; if there’s no storage option for it, it might catch on something.

Available in Green, Blue, or Yellow.

TravelTeq Trash bags

This travel bag is mighty impressive. Handmade in Italy, it has 8 inside compartments (4 open, 3 zipped) and one outside compartment/pocket (for ticket or mobile phone) to make sure all your important things stay put. It’s got an undercover sort of look to it, especially in the darker ‘Panther’ color. Also, there’s free shipping to the US and EU, if that helps take the edge off the price.

Accommodates up to a 15 inch laptop.
