If you need an occasional table that knocks down for storage, take a look at the Etage Collection. Choose your table legs (12″ or 15″), then choose your tabletop. Also, at first glance, it may appear that you could use the legs with any surface, which you could, but it’s worth noting that the round bracket of the leg is inlaid with the accompanying top. A nice detail in an affordable occasional table, don’t you think?

This Cube Side Table is a bajillion dollars… oh, wait, never mind, it’s less than $150. Good deal, eh? It’s got a black marble base with an oak veneer top, and with a 15.5″ diameter, it’ll probably fit into those tight spots and corners with room to spare. After all, with all of your upcoming holiday entertaining, you don’t want someone setting their champagne on the floor (gasp!), do you?

The good news is the Spin Stool from Swedese in now on sale over at the Finnish Design Shop. The bad news is that shipping to the United States is sort of expensive- you’d still save a little cash, just not as much as if you were in the EU/UK. Made from laminated ash veneer, the Spin Stool is available in black, white, ash, grey, yellow, orange, and blue.

I know, I know, it’s tough to find the right lounge chair. Sometimes they’re waaay too expensive, and sometimes they look like they’re fit more for a college dorm than a mostly responsible adult’s living space. So, let’s look at the Cinto: it has a safari-plus-Danish vibe that suits our sort of style and the white leather is a little daring (not recommended if you have kids that run around with sticky food or paint on their hands, of course) and just the right amount of luxe. It features the same geometric base and adjusts from 22 to 28 inches in height, which makes it a cross between an end table, stool, and even a low bar stool. Every once in a while there’s a furniture or accessory item that makes me wish I had a totally empty house, just so I could start with one piece and build outwards, completely tailoring the whole house around one single aesthetic. Ethnicraft’s Oak Blackbird Sideboard is one of those pieces, to be sure, as its black outline neatly delineates its stack of natural oak doors, compartments and drawers. How could one be messy with this sideboard sitting in one’s dining or living room? (I’m sure you’ll try, but I’ll roll my eyes and shake my finger at you if I see even one little paper out of place.)

Need a dining table or work surface? You can’t go wrong with one of the three Snaregade* Tables by Norm.Architects, as it has such slender supports for its oak veneer tabletop. That leaves plenty of room for legs, and, with such a spare and elegant look, it would be right at home in the dining room or office. The Snaregade was originally a one-off design for Bjarne Hansen, Menu’s creative director and founder, but Norm.Architects were so fond of it they made a few for their own studio. Let’s take a look at the Milà Chair by Jaime Hayòn for Magis. It’s a little less severe than some of our other favorite chairs, but it has a sculpted, playful quality that reminds us a little of Gaudí’s creations (i.e. Catalan Modernism). The organic shape is achieved thanks to a a gas-assisted injection moulding technique, which makes the Milà easier to produce and therefore very affordable. Keep a set outside or indoors; they’re stackable too.

You could say that this price is kind of high for a skinny leather bench, but then I’d need to remind you that it has a marble side table incorporated into its powder-coated metal frame and it would be a cool piece to have in an entryway or odd corner space, especially as it would add seating without taking up too much visual or physical space. Then you’d say I’m right, and we would both be glad we’re friends that can discuss design without punching each other in the face.

Need more storage space for paperwork? One of the more exciting things to happen in the furniture retail world this month is the arrival of Commune’s collection over at West Elm. I won’t bother with talking about how this represents a shift in design sense or quality, because hopefully that will knock you over the head once you look at the pieces up close. The piece I’m most excited about is the Storage Bench, mostly because it has a mid century vibe with its black and white sliding doors and removable leather cushion. You’ll most likely see the rest of the collection (at least the Sling Chair and Marble-Topped Coffee Table) featured here on our site over the next couple of weeks, as they’re great deals to be had*.

Does this shelving remind you a tiny bit of the New Order Shelving by Stefan Diez? Maybe a little? It’s similar in that it has dividers and optional panels that can be moved around to suit your preferences. Each shelving unit comes with two movable dividers, one back panel, and one storage box with push latch. Each unit is fully finished on all sides- you know what that means, don’t you? Yep, you can float one in the middle of a room to separate and define a space.
