birch wood tray side table

I really like this little table. And even though I’m not usually a big fan of birch wood, I think this table could use a coat of oil or wax and it would fit in nicely with some of your more sophisticated pieces. Another great thing about it is that the top lifts off for use as a tray.

Cross Extension Table

This table seems to fit function and beauty equally within its design.

“With spare clean lines and no decorative excess, Matthew Hilton’s Cross Extension Table pairs the elegance and warmth of classic English furniture with the simple beauty of 21st-century modernism…The table top expands with a simple pull, allowing up to two leaves to be inserted, extending the table’s length from a minimum of 78.75″ to 116″. After the guests depart, the leaves store neatly in a compartment on the table’s underside. And because of the leg’s darting design, as many as 10 can sit comfortably at the Cross Table without discomfort or squeezing.”

Solid oak base; veneered oak top with solid oak supports.

Matt Gagnon : Paper Table

Yep, it’s a bit more than maybe most of you would like to spend on a coffee table, BUT it’s made out of recycled paper and it’s freaking cool. Save your pennies and it’ll be worth it, trust me.

“Recycled newsprint boards cut and fused to create a coffee table to hold your current reading materials. With the addition of new magazines the form of the table is complete. “

What nice legs you have, little table. And it’s made of Environ, which is a biocomposite of recycled paper pulp. I haven’t heard of that before, but it sounds good and responsible.

Keith’s Console

Occasionally I’ll run across a better picture of a product that we’ve posted from long ago (in this case, March of ’06), and it’s only right to update the post so that you as a reader have a better idea of what’s available in today’s market. Most often the price will be a far cry from the original, but happily, this console is still available from one retailer for the same price of $300, while another has it priced at $620. I guess it pays to shop around, huh?

Three-legged console table, inspired by the rock and roll antics of the legendary Mr. Keith Moon. For all wall types. Solid oak finished with a clear matte lacquer.

Lookit! It’s an end table and a light all in one. The small inner square contains the bulb and the cord/socket is at the bottom of the inner square. It’s a nice size too.

Unit Console Table

Thought these two pieces were worth mentioning for those of you looking for some lower-priced furniture items (everything’s relative, right?)…I like how the console seems to just lean against the wall and how it has a good amount of surface space considering the size. The mirror is a good buy as well…

Snow Table

Nendo: Snow Table
Swedese, Sweden.

“Designed by Nendo in Japan. Have you ever awaked in the morning to a soft blanket of snow covering your yard and smiled? Perhaps it is because there is something about the winter that appeals to the minimalist in all of us. Everything covered in a nice clean white veil, the hard edges of ice on the windows. With the Snow Table, designedy Nendo for Swedese you can bring some of that winter beauty into your home. This modular and expandable table is made by connecting a series of snowflake shaped white plywood sections together, and placing an appropriately sized pane of glass on top. We love the modular aspect of it that makes it possible to expand as necessary, or as desired.”

Material: White lacquered “snow flakes” in MDF. Clear Glass Top. Simple assembly required.

BeeBoard Desk

I don’t know about you, but this makes my fingers itch to make furniture out of cardboard. If you’re less inclined but still want the furniture, you now can get the look without the (presumable) hassle.

“An ecologically low-impact solution for the home office, the Desk is made from BeeBoard, a layered cardboard with a honeycomb structure. By keeping the BeeBoard exposed, he lets the material provide a densely textured surface that contrasts with the structures’ surprising lightness. The Desk has two pillar legs that lock into the tabletop’s span and are secured by industrial adhesive. The table is completed with a slender acrylic overlay to provide a smooth, firm writing surface.”

Thorsten Van Elten Magazine Reader

Have we posted this before? I don’t think so, but it sure seems like we would have. There’s not much to say, other than this table is stupendous. It’s made of powder coated 3mm mild steel and is available in white, dark blue, and grey. I think I love this one more than my shoes too.

noguchi prismatic tables

As you may have noticed, I’ve been posting some interesting shapes lately. I used to be very rectilinear, but now I think I’m rebeling in the form of hexagonals and other equilaterals. I have not yet hit rock-bottom (amorphous or abstracts), but I’m teetering. Do they have programs for people like me?
