El Ultimo Gritto: K Blocks Table/Seating

Modular furniture can be extremely handy to have. Though this looks to be an excellent size for children, I’m sure adults could utilize the pieces just as well.

“The K Block is a modular object which on its own is a stool or extra seating and when not in use can be stacked in a sculptural way. Combinations of the K Block can be used to resolve different furniture requirements…Custom colors are also availale (minimum order is 100 pieces per special custom color). Suitable for outdoor or indoor use by children or adults alike.”

Extremely durable industrial polyethylene plastic.

Damier adjustable sofa, leather

So, this isn’t exactly something you might buy on a whim, (due to the unwieldly size and price tag) but it’s a pretty great piece if you have the space for it. It’s upholstered in leather and has two independently articulated movements on each of the four sections. This creates the ability to create a very configurable seating arrangement.

FlexibleLove 16 Chair

I am in love with this chair. Named for it’s ability to be a sort of “flexible love seat”, it incorporates two of my favorite things: Sustainability (made wholly from recycled paper and wood products) and configurability depending on your needs (expands to 720 cm from 22 cm).

This chair uses a honeycomb structure to expand out and can hold up to 16 people and support up to 4224 lbs. You can see it action here.

Thomas Pedersen: Stingray Rocking Chair

This is a great modern, interpretation of the classic rocking chair.

“A modern, dynamic piece of furniture built for comfort and which accommodates a variety of sitting positions. The shape of the rocking chair was partially inspired by a shell. This gives it a beautiful organic design which is raw on the outside but smooth and refined on the inside. A piece of furniture that provides a unique experience of inner tranquillity.

The steel frame has been constructed without any transverse lines thus accentuating the floating appearance of the chair.”

The shell is made of vacuum-suctioned high gloss plastic shell and comes in black or white.

20-06 Chair-Limited Edition

Not many chairs can boast weighing 5.5 lbs, much less being made out of 80% recycled aluminum. If you are contemplating purchase, there’s also the fact that a numbered run of 500 chairs was made exclusively for DWR, so these chairs are a limited edition and have a number engraved on their backs (2/500, 3/500, etc.). That might sweeten the deal for those of you that like “collecting” furniture.

-20-06 Chair, recently introduced by Foster & Partners for Emeco
-Stackable up to 10 high and is suitable for indoor and outdoor use (aluminum may patina with outdoor use).
