Whoa, considering we first posted the Riki Stool over 6 years ago, it’s time for an update. Designed by Riki Watanabe in 1965, this stool is made of cardboard, which allows it to be lightweight and very strong- it can take the weight of over 1,000 pounds. No tools needed for assembly, you just need a few folds to create a comfortable seat.

It’s been nine years since the Hee Seating Collection first hit the market, but it looks just as good now as it did back in 2004. Designer Hee Welling was originally inspired by the interior of a refrigerator, but you won’t find that on Hay’s site anymore, as the many other attributes of the seating collection have the spotlight. The chairs are made from galvanized solid steel, with outdoor powder coating that withstands weather throughout the year. They’re stackable, with a floor linking connection, and even cushions, if needed (contact HAY for availability). All that with the simple, perfect design and you’ve got yourself an excellent option for seating wherever you might need it.

This Swell Sofa has some serious curves that catch the eye. Pay attention and you’ll see the charm in this stool designed by outofstock. It is what it is- a reclaimed teak rocker. Yet, without an image next to that title you might think of a more antiquated version that would not work in most modern settings. Need a bench? How about this Cain Bench by Staach? It’s been around a while now (the first time we posted it was in 2008) but simple lines and an affordable price tag never goes out of style. The wood is sourced sustainably from New York and Pennsylvania, and each bench is fabricated completely in Staach’s workshop with a limited use of only two tools. Think of it as a landing pad in the entryway for bags and putting on shoes or as seating for one/both sides of the dining table.

Well, what do we have here? I’d say one heck of a well proportioned, piped-cushion sofa. Go ahead and insert a wolf-whistle to fully pick up the appreciation that I’m putting down for this Bank Sofa by Blu Dot. Grey is usually the color choice I’d recommend for longevity, but this lava-lipstick red sure is a show stopper. Choose between super skinny blackened metal or brass legs.
