The Cage lighting collection designed by Arik Levy for Forestier combines the industrial aspect of protective cage light fixtures with traditional paper lanterns (a more obvious iteration is found in the In & Out Lamp small and large). This opposites-attract formula results in a successful pairing that is surprisingly elegant, and as a result this collection has moved to the top of the wish-this-was-available-statside list.

How about some lighting from Rich Brilliant Willing for this Wednesday afternoon? The Channel lamps are fit for many a modern interior, thanks to their minimal silhouette and material mix. High efficiency LEDs are set up in a linear configuration and housed in an aluminum channel (clue as to where the lamps get their names); add a vertical wood dowel and a circular metal base and, ta-da, you have your minimal light source that’s perfect for a desktop or reading chair, depending on the version you choose.

Goodness. Who knew the inner workings of a lamp could look as good as this? Nice job yet again, Mr. Dixon. An ode to engineering, the Fin Light exposes the components usually hidden from view. What you’d think was merely a design feature is its heat sink (which if you have no idea what that is, here’s a link to images of lamp heat sinks). That and the giant acrylic lens and 6 LEDs result in a design that is self-contained yet visually exposed.

Here’s another price increase: back in 2010, the Leti Lamp was $369 for the small 12.5″h size, and now it’s $500. That’s a score for the ‘don’t procrastinate’ camp. For those of you in the ‘save until you can afford’ camp, you’ll be saving a little longer for this all in one eco-sustainable desk lamp and bookend.

Check it. This do-it-yourself DS Kit 02 table lamp by Dino Sanchez can be assembled in less than 10 minutes with a phillips screw driver (if you’re super handy, I’m sure you can knock that time down to 5-7 minutes). All the components are included- even the lightbulb. There’s also a wall version, DS Kit 01 ($75), fyi.

Who is this little guy and where did he come from? The Tokyo lamp is from Misewell, and, as said earlier, Misewell can do no wrong when it comes to furniture and accessories. Little lamps are great fits for smaller tables, and as you can see from the picture below, it would complement the Grain Desk quite nicely. The shade pivots and the neck can be adjusted to give the right stance.

Brendan Ravenhill has yet another lighting option to add to our want lists. The Hex Lamp’s shade is made from bent sheet metal and it spins and rotates to get light right where you want it. Functional and durable, it has a slight industrial feel, yet the modern shape lends itself to providing a nice sharp contrast to wherever it’s placed.
