This is a beautiful table lamp…one of those items to put on the ‘when-I-can-afford-it’ wish list.

Table lamp composed of a satin ribbon that envelops a delicate black metal frame. Dress is a dynamic garment that expresses both solidity and transparency, the elegant personality of a garment dressed in light.

Modular Lamp by Kreaton

I’m not knocking this lamp, but don’t these ‘translucent green modular blocks’ kind of look like Lego bricks?

As much a translucent sculpture as a source of illumination. The most provocative aspect of this lamp is the fact that it doesn’t exist–until you create it. Kreaton is a modular lamp designed to change the way you see light. With a starter set of a clear, polycarbonate lamp base and two kits of translucent green modular blocks, you can shape the light source of your fantasies. Includes base and two sets of 72 blocks. Height when fully assembled in this shape is 10″.

Vertebrae Lamp by Amaridian

In the spirit of spookiness, why not add a vertebrae lamp to your decor?*

Finally, lighting with a spine. This fascinating fragmented tower of stacked ceramic ribs was created by South African artisans Gerhard Swart and Anthony Harris, who’ve made an international name for themselves by pushing the boundaries of ceramic expression with both humor and a passion for sculpture and function. Individually cast and assembled ceramic vertebrae.

Measures 46″ with shade.

*(Oh, right, because it’s $2,800…good answer.)

Bowling Pin Light

It drives me bonkers when there are almost exact same products at different retailers with different prices and names; is the Bowling Pin Light from UO a Knock-off (um, literally)? Does anybody know?

STRIKE! You’ll be bowled over by the Bowling Pin Light, a fun sculpted lamp that turns off when you knock it over (gently). You might just want to get 12! Imported. Wipe clean. 4.75″w, 15.5″h, 4.75″d

The iconic bowling pin has a story to tell. In it’s standing state, it tells us that it is waiting to be knocked over. When the lamp is on its side, the light is off. When the pin stands up tall, it glows.

Kind of Magic Floor and Table Lamp by Black + Blum

This looks like a pretty reasonable price for a lamp that does tricks.

Trovato Diamond Lights

The faceted surface of these lights are pretty eye catching. I’d say they look a tad more expensive than they are as well.

“Roland Simmons blends unique design with grounded practicality in the Trovato lighting collection. Designed to enhance any room, the Trovato features a DuraSilk™ shade, an opalescent material extruded from post-industrial polyethylene resin, making it an environmentally-friendly choice.”

Both 26″ height and 35″ height lamps have a 6″ square base

FF Light Brick

This light does double duty; not only will it light up your room, it’ll also warm it up on cooler days…

The FF [Light Brick] gives off a warm glow in your room. The brick conveniently stores the heat energy and radiates it even one hour after the light is turned off. Separate the two elements and use the brick as a bed warmer! The lamp comes with a 2 meter long black textile cable with fitting, switch and plug. The brick is fitted with a felt underlay.

Hono Light

Check this out: what functions essentially as a candle is actually an LED. That in itself is nothing particularly new, but this flickering light has a magnetic “match” which turns it on or off.

The Hono Light (2005) combines the warm ambient glow of a candle with advancements in LED technology to create an “object that fascinates us in a moment.” This is Chiaki Murata’s goal for everything in his product line, Metaphys. When lit, Hono flickers like candlelight, with a “flame” produced by an algorithm-programmed LED. Turn it on or off by gently striking a magnetic “match” on the lamp’s surface. The light can also be blown out, like a candle, and will automatically turn back on after 10 seconds. Able to be safely affixed to a wall, Hono has some advantages over traditional wax. It comes with a charger, and one 15-hour charge will keep Hono illuminated for eight hours.

Bague Table Lamp by Patricia Urquiola & Eliana Gerotto

Patricia Urquiola is a master at taking any material and making it look soft and delicate.

The inspiration for the Bague table lamp was drawn from the shape of a ring. It was first presented with material never before used to make a lamp. The result was a stretched metal mesh painted white or light grey, whose surface was covered in transparent silicone resin, to diffuse a soft filtered light. A thick plexiglass ‘stopper’ was used to cut glare and increase the propagation of light upwards.

Bulbcap

This is a quick and easy way to dress up a bare lightbulb…

The Bulbcap is a lampshade, slightly more than a lightbulb. The caps are directly pulled over the lightbulbs of up to 40 watts. Any wattage can work when using economical lightbulbs. The Bulbcaps can be fixed on hanging bulbs from the ceiling, or on standing lamps of any kind. Mix and match various colors to create a collage of lights!
