Kramfors Sofa

There has been a lot of talk about the new Ikea collection but this is one of the first things that just doesn’t shout “I’m from the Swedish ubiquitous retailer!”. And what’s most exciting is that the cover is removable (dry clean only, but that’s better than nothing). If nothing else, you can take the cover to an upholsterer and have it reproduced in a different color.

Liege Desk

This desk is light and airy feeling without sacrificing storage. It’s also environmentally friendly:

“The stainless steel is finish-free, and the wood varnish is nontoxic and low in volatile organic compounds, making this a smart modern desk for todays home or office.”

Theatre Sofa

This sofa is touted as modern AND comfortable.

“Theatre’s comfort stems from its well-made form rather than excessive layers of stuffing and upholstery. The gentle angle of the backrest, full seat depth and elevated armrests are eminently suited to a formal living room or reception area.”

Honestly, I don’t think you need to feel like you’re being excessive about spending $2500 on a sofa. Good furniture is expensive to make. It will probably outlast you. Think about it. If you have it for the next 40 years, that’s only $67 a year.

Constructed from durable beech plywood, the build is lightweight yet extremely sturdy for easy maneuvering in dining rooms. Freja Sofa

There are four attributes that leads me to believe this is a wise purchase for those of you in the market for a sofa:
1. It measures eight feet in length.
2. The pillows can be removed to create a daybed-like sleeping surface on which one or two people can curl up.
3. The linen-blend upholstery cover is fully removable for dry cleaning, and features Velcro® tabs for a snug, glove-like fit.
4. The pillows are filled with down.

Hmmm. This chair is called the NIKOLAUS chair, and it looks to be inspired by the Rex chair designed in 1952 by award-winning Slovenian designer Niko Kralj. Well, I’m not sure if this is a happy accident but at $29, the price is certainly happy!

Ivar Chair

This chair is not conspicuously modern, but it is simple and lacking in unnecessary ornamentation. I think it’s a perfect little chair. And it’s only $20! You can’t even get a large pizza for less than that in times like these.

Slap a coat of white paint on this thing and you’re done.

Legare Straight Desk

So I’m preparing for my whole “flat-pack” adventure, and while this desk is a little blobby for my taste, it certainly fits the bill. This desk has been designed for companies that “need a quick set-up or who move around a lot” and can be assembled and disassembled as frequently as you need. They’re also sturdy–they’ve been tested to withstand 900 pounds of pressure.

When flat all the pieces measure up to under a few inches.
