If you're needing a sofa and an end table, consider this combined version that's inspired from the mid century era. While perhaps this isn't the most lounge friendly (as in slouchy-curl-up-and-read-a-book, just take a look at the seat back angle), it does have a tailored silhouette that would look entirely proper in a modern day living room. Plus, it's right under the $1G mark, which is rare for a sofa ...Read more
Grafika Notebook Set
Written by Katie on November 10, 2011. Permalink
How about a pattern notebook set to brighten up this Thursday morning? Unfortunately for us in the States, this retail shop is over in the UK, but it sure has a great selection of stuff. This set of A6 notebooks, for starters, is designed by Brighton-based eco designers, Nineteenseventythree and can be purchased individually should you prefer (£ 3.75 each). The patterns are also available in gift wrap, if you can believe ...Read more
Kicks by Bluelounge

This looks like a tiny little thing that could possibly improve your iPad/tablet experience. These thin silicone-rubber rails adhere to the back of your device to keep it from slipping or scratching. While I've not used or seen these in person, it looks to be a smart idea with minimal impact to your device (and wallet). Adheres to your device using a light 3M adhesive. ...Read more
Arne Jacobsen cups
Written by Katie on November 9, 2011. Permalink
Think you can't afford an Arne Jacobsen piece? Sure, maybe not the furniture, but you can now own... (drum roll) a cup. Who doesn't want some Bauhaus-inspired typography on their cup of coffee/tea/pencils/pens/miscellany? The letters were originally created by Jacobsen in 1937 for Aarhus City Hall, and now they've been revived (with permission) on these porcelain cups. Need I point out this could be a good gift ...Read more

Just when you thought the whole beanbag thing is well and truly over, they go and pull out this Moonlander* print Pullover. Sort of perfect for a kids room, or maybe even a media room or lounge area, if it fits your style. *Remember? I created a tag ...Read more

Magic 8 Ball Pen

Seeing as you cannot (and should not) carry around a real Magic 8 Ball in your pocket, briefcase, or purse, this pen will get you out of those moments of indecision with just a click. Need I stress that this pen is $7, and your hopes should not be too high as to the quality or longevity? If you're in holiday shopping mode, make note: stocking stuffer. The pen's sayings: Not For ...Read more
Concertina Wood Trivet
Written by Katie on November 8, 2011. Permalink
Trivets aren't necessarily exciting, are they? Charged with the task of protecting our tabletops, they're meant to be covered up with pots and dishes with little thought to their aesthetic value. However, this walnut trivet does a neat trick of extending from a small area to a rather long length, allowing it to fit your feast from one dish to several. It looks like a stack of chopsticks when closed, ...Read more
Swoop Storage Bag
Written by Katie on November 7, 2011. Permalink
With the thirtysomethings now having kids en masse, the complaint of toys taking over an entire home is more often heard than not. How in the world to curb this crazy emesis of plastic mess? Perhaps this storage bag/play mat could help. You simply 'swoop' up everything into the bag by pulling the nylon cords and store it away. Also, if you're thinking you need a larger version, it ...Read more
Aluminum Stool #1

Does this stool remind you a little of planes or bridges? The fascination of such things is the inspiration for this very strong and lightweight stool. It weighs less than 2 lbs., so you can carry it around the house with ease, yet holds up to approximately 250 lbs. Not a bad return weight-wise. The seat pad is 1/4" natural wool felt. monstrans.com. Casa Tissue Box Cover
Written by Katie on November 7, 2011. Permalink
I like this guy's design mantra: 'eliminate ugly'. Tissue boxes rarely have decent decoration (if ever), and the quickest way to fix the problem is to cover the whole thing up with something like this cute silhouette. I'd recommend the white, of course, but it does come in a couple of other colors. Of course, there's always the Kazan or Toro Tissue Ring as a super minimalist option. Designer: Mauricio ...Read more

It has a similar charm to the Pantone mugs, but a closer inspection will reveal handmade qualities such as the glaze being hand dipped. Made in Japan and microwave and dishwasher safe. ‘A Guide To Pairing Red Wine with Food’ Tea Towel
Written by Katie on November 3, 2011. Permalink
If you've looked up what wine goes with what food, only to find that there's a ton of sites to sift through, hold up your hand. Now, use that same hand to add this tea towel to your wishlist, because it's a heck of a lot handier to check a tea towel when you're in the middle of preparing dinner than finding a sommelier online that knows what they're talking ...Read more
