The Fold Wallet by Leffot

I love the simplicity of this leather wallet by Leffot. It’s a single piece of “horse ass leather” folded three times to secure your cash. That’s it, no fancy gimmicks. Some of the colors are back ordered, but expected back in stock mid December. See Leffot Blog for more details.

SIWA Briefcase

How long have you been waiting for the SIWA (pronounced shiwa) collection by Naoto Fukasawa to hit the stores? It feels like forever, doesn’t it? The briefcase stands out the most to me, but only because I need/want one and I’m partial to the details. I’ll do a separate post on the pouches.

All pieces are produced by the Onao paper company in Japan and are highly water-resistant and capable of carrying heavy loads (tested for up to 10 kgs/ 22 lbs).

Uh, a crocheted laptop case that empowers people to rise above poverty? Sign me up. Using materials sourced from local vendors, this thin laptop sleeve will do all sorts of good for your computer and, of course, for the people of Uganda. And hey, if the stripey red sleeve above isn’t your sort of thing, no worries, check out the uber cool black sleeve below.

Leather Writing Case

If you still prefer the pen/pencil writing method rather than the clickity clack of keyboard strokes, take a look at this beauty. The case is crafted from Bavarian cowhide and comes complete with a lovely assortment of writing tools (see below) that will no doubt add ceremony and purpose to your works. Also, if you already have your own tools, the case is available on its own without contents for £51. Could be a great gift for a writer friend or family member maybe. (Also, can I just say how many wonderful things Manufactum carries? I get lost on their site every time, adding loads of things to my shopping basket only to remind myself that I shouldn’t spend £300 on office supplies and miscellaneous brushes.)

Newspaper for Rain Bag

Right now it’s raining here in London (cold, windy, etc.) and on the streets just below my window I’ve seen two people so far that are trying to keep soggy newspapers above their heads in hopes of keeping some part of themselves dry. More than several are without any protection whatsoever, and the elements have soaked them through and through. Now, silly them, if only they had something like this handy bag here, they’d be better off for sure.

So, yes, it’s a bag that looks like a newspaper and unfolds as a newspaper would when you’re caught in the rain. Reminds me of the Newspaper print laptop bag by mitemite that I posted a while back (and bought). Just one thing to note, though, there’s no zippers on the tops of the compartments, so if you do hold the bag above your head, watch out that you don’t spill your contents all over the sidewalk.

Canvas Zipper Bags

Can you ever have enough canvas bags to hold all your odds and ends? I’m certainly not sure, especially after seeing these three zippered bags from the Museum of Useful Things. The set of three costs just under 20$, and pretty much anything that motivates a good organization of the workspace is worth that much.

Paper Clip Bag: 8″ long x 4″ wide.
Clothes Pin Bag : 10″ long x 5″ wide.
Scissors Bag: 11″ long x 7″ wide.

State of the Obvious Tote

The S/O/T/O (State of the Obvious) collection from Mash Creative caught my eye the other day when looking through Magma Books shop. In addition to this tote, there’s also a Mug (£13.50, shown below), Notebook (£9.99), and T-shirt (£25.00). All items simply ‘State the Obvious’ of what they are, thereby creating the brand image.

William Wallet

Yes, those of you searching for a thinner alternative to the regular bulky wallets can now breathe a sigh of relief, for Kristen Wentrcek (of Wintercheck Factory) has designed a solution to your problem. Two aluminum panels are held together with a Shock Cord, enabling your bills and cards to be protected whilst keeping a very compact profile. Planetbox Lunchbox

The fear of plastic chemicals leaching into our foods has resulted in some interesting new products these past few years, and a return to more traditional materials like stainless steel, glass, and ceramics to carry and transport food. Looking out for the younger crowd, these Planetbox lunchboxes are made from high quality stainless steel for a a clean, safe, reusable, and really cool looking lunchbox. In the case your kids don’t think their lunchboxes are cool enough as they are, they can decorate them with fun magnets.

Aluminum Card Cases

You’d be surprised at how difficult finding a simple card case can be. Of course, I say that and then do a search and I find these other ones (below) that are in line with similar colors in a matte finish as well (though a little more expensive).

Cornucopia Bag

Cheeky San Francisco-based Betabrand inject a bit of style and added practicality to farmer’s market bags. The Cornucopia converts from an over-the-shoulder tote for shopping to a backpack for hauling everything home. Instead of one large void, the bag features separate zippered compartments to keep your foods tidy and organized. A bit pricey for what it is, but I’m sure it can be used for other carrying tasks besides trips to the market.
