If you’re the sort who prefers to match pieces (as in, your dining table matches the credenza) now you have an extra option of collections to choose from. The
Cross Table (above right, $2,750.00) now has a friend.
“Matthew Hilton designed the Cross Credenza (2007) as a material and visual complement to his Cross Extension Table. But its straightforward aesthetic and solid craftsmanship make it an apt choice not only for the dining room, but also for media storage or the front hall. The Credenza has three drawers on the left, the topmost being slimmer than the others, sized for cutlery or utensils. Two doors on the right open onto two shelves which are height-adjustable to suit individual needs. With a solid oak frame, the Cross Credenza has an oak veneer that coordinates with the Cross tables and Profile Chair, as well as the Cross Coffee Table. Blum® soft-closure hardware rounds out the quality craftsmanship.”
Solid natural oak frame and body; birch plywood drawer inserts; oak veneer top and fronts over particleboard; Blum soft-closing hardware.

We’ve posted the Waveform Shelf before, but Danielle over at Apartment Therapy came up with the idea of mounting it lower and using it as a little laptop desk. For those of us with small quarters, it’s a brilliant idea. What’s more, the fact that it has no legs means it will take up no floor space, which we all know makes a space look larger.

Pairing a little detail with an otherwise simple modern shape seems to suit this sideboard quite well. There’s just enough scroll work to keep it interesting, yet it wouldn’t clash with or distract from other pieces in the room.
“Straddling the line between minimal and maximal, the Scatola Armonica Sideboard teams a spare, modern shape and materials with richly ornamental, scrolling details.”

Those of you living in or around London will benefit most from this particular post, as I’m not sure how this would survive a trip to the U.S., but I thought it deserved a mention.

I’m really liking this tall and skinny bookcase…and how great does it look against a dark gray/black wall?
“The Totem Bookcase by Blu Dot is the perfect storage solution for oversized artbooks and magazines. The small size, but tall and deep shelves ensure you can pack in lots of books in a small footprint.”

This might need a ‘platinum member’ sticker, because while I sure can’t afford it, there’s a very small percentage of those of you who can. This reclaimed Douglas Fir credenza seems to have its credentials: hand carved/foundry cast solid bronze legs, intricate cut-out pulls, powder coated aluminum doors, signed and numbered by the designer (there’s only 10), not to mention the wood has been scorched and oiled to get the right finish. It’s a beauty.
“When scorched with fire and rubbed with oil, the lake-salvaged Douglas Fir takes on a richly colored and heavily textured black finish. The sculptural legs were originally carved in plaster by the designer, and later cast in solid bronze. Punctuated by crisp satin white doors with intricate door pulls, this piece is truly unique.”

I was taking a look at the inspirational remodel in the Chicago apartment of Andreas over at apartment therapy, and practically flipped over the use of the Ikea cabinets as floating credenzas. The best thing about this DIY job is that it can be accomplished fairly inexpensively. If I were to guess I’d say that he used 30″x18″ fan top cabinet and the Strecket handles.
