I just found a great company called “loadbearing” which makes all kinds of great tables, storage, etc. What’s cool about the company is that each piece they make can be customized by you, the consumer. They have a flash interface in which you can drag and drop different color styles or wood types and the price updates accordingly.

I think this sideboard would fit the bill for storage/surface needs. It’s sleek and contemporary, has a nice large surface for depositing keys or office papers or food (or whatever else might strike your fancy), and it has nice options for the top. I’m not one to drop lots of money on just one thing, but it bears reminding that you usually get what you pay for, and I think this would be worth every penny.

The panels of this credenza move around to display your worldly goods in a coy sort of way. The lower shelf is tall enough for lp’s and there are holes in the back sized perfectly for cords of all sorts.

The shape and proportion of this buffet looks remarkably like my walnut knoll credenza. For a little DIY, you can make this look a lot better by simply getting rid of the spindly 50′s legs and replace them with something more architectural looking, like these Ikea kitchen cabinet legs. My Knoll credenza has 6 legs (center supports in front and back), so I would purchase two sets of the legs.

This would be perfect in an office (as intended by Knoll) or you can also use it as an entertainment center.

This is a nice storage piece for the office or living room. The construction is a nice thick solid steel which is painted.

I’m quite fond of this credenza. I’ve long been looking for something just like this to hold that stuff that needs to be stored, and the black accent on the end of this caught my eye. The orange insides certainly help as well.

Vintage shopping can be difficult because if you have something in mind that you’re looking for, chances are you could search for a very long time until you find it. But if you’re on a budget, I recommend vintage shopping over shopping at IKEA, because the pieces have lasted fifty years and will last another fifty, unlike their MDF counterparts.

The people at Two Jakes (Jake and Jake?) make your job a little easier by offering some great older pieces at low prices. Check them out. This credenza is $225, a comparable price for an IKEA credenza.

Usually any furniture that looks this good has a price tag of over $1000, but guess what, this particular piece doesn’t. Although, I do have to share that I have seen what looks to be the exact thing at other retailers for a bit above $1000. (Also, I am led to believe the door is a fold-down type of thing.)

Available in all RAL colour shades, metallic and pearl enamel. All Müller furniture is welded of 1 to 3 mm thick sheet steel.

The RW109 is made with steel & aluminum legs.
