Even if you’re not crazy for cowhide, surely the classic modern frame of this lounge chair is worth some appreciation. A piece like this has an excellent chance of withstanding the the test of time.

De La Tour Chair

At this price, I could overlook the ‘inspired by’. This is a great choice for anyone on a budget.

“Inspired by an iconic Midcentury design, our wire chair is equal parts modern sophistication and organic comfort. Iron mesh construction adds both textural interest and a sense of transparency, resulting in a piece that simultaneously enhances and supports its surroundings. A true classic, you’ll love it defining a corner in your living room, pulled up to a desk in your office or grouped in 4 around a dining room table. Get wired! Imported. Wipe clean.”

Atmos Rocker

There aren’t necessarily a wide variety of modern rocking chairs out there, not to mention the green sort, so that’s why this one stands out quite a bit. I like the angle of the seat/back/neck- it reminds me of the
Omni Chair by Marten Claesson & Eero Koivisto.

“Atmos Chairs take their design cue from the simple utilitarian beauty of the Shaker tradition. The “ears” that jut out from the top of the chairs add a distinctive feature to these chairs. Atmos Chairs are a comfortable way to sit while satisfying our need to conserve resources. Their construction yields 8-10 times more usable wood from a log than solid lumber. Unless otherwise specified, the webbing is sourced from surplus stocks of automotive seat belts. The wood is European beech sustainably sourced from FSC certified forests; adhesives and finishes are water based. This product qualifies for LEED points. Suitable for all contract and residential applications.”

lex armchair

Somehow both minimal and grand in scale, the lex was introduced by Artifort during the Milan Furniture Fair 2004.

“ergonomical and functional comfort make the lex armchair exceptional, a step above other armchairs. the frugality of its design and its minimalism provide the sofa with a timeless elegance. its clear lines and qualities speak for themselves. the goal in designing this sofa was to maintain a sleek visual shape that would be both distinct and timeless.”

Sly Chair

This isn’t exactly a design classic, but there’s something really endearing about it. Perhaps it’s the reinterpretation of the 60’s view of modern furniture. It’s perfectly scaled and in a nice cotton/nylon blend.

Paulistano Armchair (Missoni Cover)

Truth be told, I absolutely love this chair. And now all you Missoni fans can go berserk because this chair now has a limited-edition, reversible cover by none other than Ms. Rosita Missoni herself.

“The frame, a continuous 17-foot piece of solid stainless steel, is shaped under 200 lbs of hydraulic pressure over 24 hours. The result is a sinuous structure welded in a single spot and wrapped in almost an entire hide of leather that will gain depth and luster as it ages. Exceptionally comfortable, the Paulistano flexes slightly and can be adjusted for upright or relaxed sitting positions by shifting the sling up or down the frame.”

Missoni reversible cover, 100% cotton.
Also available in vegetable-tanned full-grain, semi-aniline, double-sided leather.
