You’ve seen the various string chairs (the Acapulco Chair, for instance), but check out this lounge chair from Ilan Dei Studio. Doesn’t it look ‘designer-y’, and by that I mean, pretty expensive? Compared to the woven Tropicalia Lounge Chair by Patricia Urquiola for $4,410, it sure seems like a good price at $799.

Hmm, what do we have here? If you have an extraordinary memory, you might just remember a tiny note I made regarding the price of an Acapulco-ish Egg Chair back in 2009. Often these chairs are priced around the $400 – $500 mark, which didn’t make much sense to me as I’ve seen them on porches of very humble abodes in Mexico and Costa Rica. Enter in MoMA Store, who now carries the Acapulco Chair for a mere $195. Hmm. The investigation continues below.

Warmer weather means park visits and beach trips, both of which are all the better with comfortable seating. If you’re looking for something that’ll last more than one or two seasons, set your eyes upon this Dania Folding Beach Chair. It’s a classic choice, made of solid teak with “unprecedented craftsmanship.”

How do you feel about Eames furniture outdoors? While it seems like an odd idea, it turns out that the Aluminum Group was promoted as the “leisure group” or “indoor-outdoor group” in the late 1950s, but then was changed to be exclusively indoors. Now Herman Miller has restored the collection to its original intent, with powder-coated frames and outdoor friendly fabrics to withstand the weather.

This chair probably isn’t new to your eyes, as there are several versions floating all around this side of the world. Industry Of All Nations has combined the many versions into one “hybrid conclusion” and called it the Panamericana chair, named after the Panamericana road, of course. Made from teak wood, the chair can be used indoors or out with low maintenance, and they fold for easy transport or storage.

Because this table is made from scrapwood, each is one-of-a-kind. There’s also a non-scrapwood teak version (pictured below), but you’d do well to consider the more interesting scrap version, as Mr. Eek is known for that sort of thing (remember the Scrapwood Wallpaper?).
If you’re not familiar with his work, check out the full collection on his website: Piet Hein Eek.

While these tables do seem quite small (10″Wx14″Dx14″H), they are currently on sale for $39.95 for a set of 2. Put four tables together for a coffee table, or keep them separate for smaller drink tables and such. They’d be pretty versatile for any outdoor space and you could buy several without breaking the bank.
Suitable for indoor/outdoor use.

Oh, beanbags. Just when you think you’re sick of them, this outdoor version makes you think twice. Nylon web strapping on the sides means you can tie chairs together for a loveseat or sofa, or even a chaise if you add the ottoman. Now, the red isn’t for everyone, of course, but it is relatively inexpensive, and for (modern-ish) outdoor seating options that’s few and far between.

We featured Bend Seating’s Farmhouse, Lucy, and Ethel Chairs a while ago, and we certainly can’t pass up featuring the Bunny Lounge as well. The whole collection is indoor/outdoor friendly, so you’ve got versatility that’s most welcome during those fine weather days where you choose to spend some time outside.

Scout Regalia just came out with a new charcoal bracket color for their Garden Kits, which is a nice alternative to the original bright green. Now, to the main purpose of this post: have you seen this DIY Planting Table? You can download the plans (free, of course) and make your own with just a few bits of lumber and screws. Looks super easy.

Made from a completely recyclable thermoplastic polymer, this chair is suitable for both indoors and out. While the silhouette offers a pleasing fluid shape, the apparent comfort and ‘ergonomic versatility’ will make the price tag that much more understandable.

Well, if you need a pop of color indoors or out, this over-the-top throne might suit your fancy. Personally, I tend to lean towards the black or white because color seems a bit superfluous, but maybe I’m boring that way.
Made of recyclable linear polyethylene, UV resistant.
Available in 11 different colors.
Made in Italy.
W40 x D35 x H43″
