Ghost Cameras

Snap! Ghost Cameras are handmade, glazed earthenware replicas of vintage cameras. They come in three variations: 1960, 1970 and 1980, modeled after the Argus C3, the Polaroid SX-70, and the Polaroid One Touch, respectively. I’ve only seen these online but recently have just had the pleasure of seeing the 1980 Ghost Camera at awesome East Village store Alphabets. Ghost Cameras are designed by Yellow Owl Workshop and handmade in Portland, Oregon.

Can’t Have It? Stick It.

These stickers from Can’t Have It? Stick It. caught my eye. Take a look at the photo gallery to see the variety of placement options (especially for plants, which work surprisingly well in workspace areas). There’s also a good collection of life-size pets and furniture too, so if you can’t have the ‘real’ thing, you can fulfill your fantasies short term with the stickers.

Small stickers start at 4 euro.

Linzie Hunter Prints, Postcards

Originally seen on Brain Pickings, the work of Linzie Hunter caught my eye. Her typographic work is based on the subject lines of annoying spam emails, which she then takes and turns into amusing artwork. Talk about making lemonade out of lemons, she’s doing it.

Say Goodbye to Love Failures and Loneliness (shown above), 22″x17″, $200.00
(The 11″x8.5″ size at $20.00 is sold out unfortunately.)

You can also buy Linzie’s postcard book titled Secret Weapon: 30 Hand-Painted Spam Postcards at Amazon for $9.95. Images below.

ABC Photogram

A is for Arc, B is for Butterfly… see if you can guess all the objects that Dutch Osborne found and photographed for this particular piece. And just so you know, it was a winner in the AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) typography category.

Chalkboard Globe

We’ve posted plenty of map-themed items before; Haptic Lab Quilts, Magnetic Future Map, Places on Earth, but this will be the first where you can literally create your own world. The outlines of the continents are painted on, leaving you  on your own to create the division lines and territories. Undo the Louisiana Purchase. Create Jeff Land. Or draw some sea monsters. You get the idea.

30″ tall, 19” diameter globe.

On a side note, this could easily be a weekend diy project; buy a globe at a flea market and paint it.

Magnetic Future Map

This magnetic map uses “cylindrical equal area projection” which means countries are correct proportionally. Funny how this map looks a little different than the ones hanging in our elementary schools, isn’t it? Each size map features a different color palette; the larger size (shown above) is yellow/green while the smaller size is pink/green.

Stainless steel magnets included.

TakeBreak Wall Decal

If you’ve got an unsightly crack in your wall, you should fix it, of course. But, seeing as you might be short on time/money/motivation to spackle it properly, these wall stickers of branches and birds could be a temporary alternative. If you’re artistically inclined, you could draw/paint something similar, but then you’d have to paint over the entire area when you’re done, and let’s face it, the less work the better.

Price per sheet.

Keep Calm and Snap On Print

Sure, the whole ‘keep calm and carry on’ thing is getting a bit overdone, but this is geared towards the photographer, so it’s permissible. Plus, it’s super cheap, so it might cheer up a bare bit of wall.

Tree Prints by Bryan Nash Gill

Woodcut prints will always fascinate me. The end results usually are impressive enough as it is, but knowing the time and patience to get there just adds to the appreciation. These tree prints by Bryan Nash Gill certainly offer a new kind of woodcut experience, by letting the trees speak for themselves.

Two prints are available, the Locust and the Hemlock, which are $800 and $4000 respectively.
