Cross Blanket

Polar vortex, pshaw! No cold will bother you when you’ve got this Cross Blanket from Pia Wallén wrapped around you. Especially because in Swedish folk art tradition, the cross is a strong symbol for hope, so you’ll be doubly optimistic whenever you wrap it around yourself (note: the smaller size could be appropriate for a little one’s crib/bed). Or, if you really want to spend some dough and have the larger, wool version, the original Crux Blanket is available as well.

Lineage Pillows

Looking for a few accent pillows that don’t scream ‘HELLO, LOOK AT ME!’? Join the club. Linear patterns are always a safe bet, and stay in the neutral camp when done with simple color options like red, grey, and black. Say a quiet, dignified ‘hello’ to the Lineage Pillow collection from Cofield. The two patterns play with traditional American quilt block patterns to create a “graphic representation of an arrowhead and the whirling blades of a windmill.”

Pie Chart Patchwork

Does anyone have a baby I can borrow? Just for two minutes? That way I can buy this Pie Chart Patchwork, set the baby down on it, and say, “Hey, little person, how happy are you on this wonderful, rainbow, lambswool thingamajig?” After the baby smiles (because of course he/she would, sitting on a thing of wonder such as this), I would return him/her, because then my purchase would be entirely justified. I don’t know what I would do with it after that (a throw on a sofa, perhaps?) but I’ll think of something.

Hopewell Quilts

Minimal quilts! Feast your eyes upon the offerings of Hopewell, the design workshop of Eliza Kenan and Claire Oswalt. Of course I need one of these, because when does a chill not sweep through the house on any given evening? Or, perhaps there’s a bare spot on the wall or a lonely chair that needs a a few blocks of color artistically placed… yes, there’s at least one of those in every home, for sure.

Dots & Spots Pillows

For goodness sake, don’t get so serious with your interior accessories that you turn your nose up at polka dots. It is summer, after all, and a little bit of friendly-bright color might just do you some good. Plus, these polka dot pillows are from the lovely duo Daniel Emma, of whom we are all fans. (Trust me on this.)

Custom Silkscreen Pet Pillow

These pillows might seem a little silly to people who don’t have pets, but if you’ve ever had a beloved four-legged friend, you’ll certainly understand. And, for anyone who’s ever considered the other way to keep their pet around, this would definitely be a less expensive (and saner?) alternative. If you don’t have a pet but like the idea of an animal pillow, don’t forget about the Fauna Pillows by Ross Menuez.

Chad Wys Portrait Cushions

Strange pillows, you say? Well, let’s just take a closer look. In collaboration with artist Chad Wys, mineheart is offering these digitally printed portrait cushions that are delightfully weird- and one that’s altogether creepy. Using similar imagery to classic old masters paintings, each design plays around with parts of the face to create a strange mix of digital erasure and traditional portrait painting. Interesting.

Meg Callahan Quilts

Holy. How nice is it to see some super modern graphic patterns applied to quilts? Matter has three of Meg Callahan’s quilts entitled ‘Spine’, ‘Ada’, and ‘Harrah’ on their website, and while the prices aren’t listed, we’ll assume they’ll not be what most of us would call affordable. They are, however, what most of us would call amazing. The Spine and Ada quilts use digital printing and industrial machine quilting while Harrah is an entirely hand stitched patchwork.

Geo Pillow

Designer Mika Barr has released her first collection in a series named Geo, a pattern derived from the world of Origami paper-folding. Pretty terrific, don’t you think? So terrific it might require begging/purchasing of luggage space from the next European traveler to the states. Or paying extra for international shipping, of course.
