Bub Table Lamp

This isn’t the first or last bulb-stuck-in-the-side-of-a-lampshade you’ll see, but it is perhaps the most alluring. A bulb pierces the side of the hand blown glass shade, at just the right height for a friendly, floating apparition. The olive tint gives the lamp an extra amicable look that’s sure to get along with other pieces in your collection.

Muuto’s Grain Pendant

At first glance, you’ll most likely wish Muuto’s Grain Pendant was a bit bigger than ~8″ in diameter. However, once you see a few lined up over a kitchen island or a large grouping over a table, you’ll be glad that it’s not too large, as the size is perfect for multiples. Get up close and personal, and you’ll see the shade is made from a mix of bamboo fibers and polypropylene, which gives it a subtle texture and warmth. Now on sale.

Theorem Desk Lamp

Inspired by the hypotenuse of a right triangle, this smaller LED lamp will tuck in nicely amongst your other desk items. You do remember what a hypotenuse is, right? The Theorem Desk Lamp from DAMM is made from hand turned solid Ash base, cerused (I had to look up what that meant), with a natural beeswax finish. And, if you’d like an alternate color scheme, there’s black as well. An alternate arm shape? Piazza.

Potence Pivotante Wall Lamp

You’re familiar with the Potence Lamp, right? Nemo has re-launched the original design by Charlotte Perriand in collaboration with Prouvé’s Tropique house. The long-armed, L-shaped light rotates 180 degrees on the wall, which lets light reach all around a room, making the most of its single halogen bulb. Of course, this version is a little more pared-down and straightforward than the angled Potence. Don’t tell anyone, but I think I prefer it.

Boom Table Light

Need a little light? The Boom task light by Tom Dixon is composed of a series of cylinders and tubes arranged in a semi-industrial sculptural stack. Inspired by traditional draftsman’s and machinist’s lamps, the pivoting arm and head will focus light right where you need it, which may just help you get your work done a tiny bit faster. If not that, then at the very least you won’t have headaches from eye strain.

Trash Me Lamp

Alphacrete, Concrete Neon Light

Get your message across with some heavy lettering- though you’d be smart to keep it short and sweet (each letter sets you back $200). Maybe just one, short word? Seletti’s Alphacrete Lamps have neon glass surrounded by concrete for a sharp contrast. Kind of fun, right? They can go indoors or outside and can be hung on the wall or kept on a tabletop or shelf. Keep in mind to add the right transformer to your order for the amount of letters you buy.

Plumen 003 LED Light Bulb

A sexy lightbulb? Really? Well that’s an adjective everyone else is using, so, sure, it’s, uh, sexy. Let me introduce you to the Plumen 003. It is energy-efficient (it’s an LED) and gives off a focused, direct light directly below along with a softer sidelight. Similar to candlelight, it has a warm glow thanks to its center gold element. Unlike candlelight, it will last 10,000 hours. That means it will provide just the right amount of flattering ambient light to your oh-so-lovely features for a very, very long time. Add one above a workspace or add a few above a table; just be prepared for some ooo’s and ahh’s when your guests notice your “sexy” lightbulbs.

Mobile Light by Andrew Neyer

If you have a dark living or dining area, may I suggest the Mobile Light by Andrew Neyer? The rotating arms allow for quite a bit of variety in movement, especially considering the arms are 40″ and 48″ in length. The no-frills, minimal design provides a clean look that would work well with other styles, so it’s a very safe bet for all sorts of interiors.

Antipode Pendant Light

Let’s run through the very short list of requirements for a pendant light. Minimal/modern? Check. Spectacular/different? Check. Somewhat affordable? Check. The Antipode Pendant Light from Lambert & Fils fits those three requirements, and now we just need to figure out just where we’re going to put it. Maybe the dining room, entryway, or a large walk-in closet?

Conic Table Lamp

Can you draw? Because this lamp needs to be the star of a short comic- its little shade looks just like a hat. Simple geometric elements with the slight skew of asymmetry give the Conic Lamp its personality. Set it up on your desk or a side table for a directional reading light (and pretend it’s your non-judgmental friend, always there with a bright outlook when you need it most).

Focal LED Lamp with USB Port

It’s great to see that USB ports are now incorporated into some task lamps, especially as most of our outlets are overwhelmed with plugs and wires. This Focal LED Lamp has an easy-to-access USB port right at its base- no need to fuss around behind your computer or at your charging station for a free spot. Its head tilts left and right and spins 180 degrees on its post to focus its energy-efficient LEDs right where you want. Three levels of brightness give you more control over light intensity. There’s also a handy shallow dish at the base for small pocket items.
