Diode watch

The impressive thing about this watch is that it was originally designed way back in 1975.

LIP watches have been around for over 150 years but were unavailable in the United States until very recently. The company has reintroduced some of their most important models from a modern collection that was first unveiled 35 years ago. In the 1960s and 1970s, LIP enlisted a handful of creative architects and designers to design contemporary watches. Among them was the prolific Roger Tallon, who designed everything from high-speed French TGV trains to the 1964 Helicoid Staircase (part of the MoMa Design Collection). Tallon’s LIP designs include the iconic Mach 2000 series.

PXR-6 Ultranoir

The PXR-6 has been revamped on the inside, but functions and looks the same on the outside.

The functions remain the same and are simple, clear and to the point: time and date on a dark background with light type. And when the light button is pressed, it glows with beautiful blue light. The bracelet is almost an inch wide and can be adjusted to a minimum length of 6.5″ (16,5 cm) or a maximum of 8.25″ (21 cm).

Naoto Fukasawa and Issey Miyake Watch

My favorite product designer (Naoto Fukasawa) and one of my favorite fashion designers (Issey Miyake) have teamed up to make a pretty cool watch.

Case designed after the shape of a hexagon wrench, representing the simple beauty of tools.

Disk fixing the integral-type leather band. The caseback is installed beneath it.

Minimalist design in its ultimate form. Each angle of the dodecagon glass represents the hour.

Bubble Necklace

An excellent choice for a gift, perhaps?

“Designers Marina and Susanna Sent belong to a family which has worked for generations in Murano, the ancient center for the production of Venetian glass. The sisters continue the ancient tradition, giving a contemporary edge to the timeless art form. This refined piece resembles a cluster of bubbles, which sparkle with reflected light.”

re:vision (Camera Component bracelets)

These are so very clever(!)…keep in mind that each piece is unique and apparently sells fast.

“re:vision is the product of Craig Arnold’s unbridled passion for cameras, recycling and polishing. Handmade in Adelaide Australia, from discarded camera components and reshaped with love, re:vision brings old school cameras into an entirely new focus.”

Contura Ring (Platinum 10mm)

Whoa. I don’t know if I would pleased or freaked out if someone wanted my profile on their finger, but it’s bound to be impressive no matter what the initial response might be.

“CONTURA, platinum (also available in stainless steel, silver, white and yellow gold) a ring that is made from the profile of the carrier or the presenter. An original in the best sense. You submit a profile photo along with ring size to Fitzsu and we send the information to Germany to be custom made. CONTURA is simple and easy to identify. There is hardly a ring on the market that is more personal, more individual, and more emotional than the CONTURA. Take your loved one’s profile with you everywhere you go- who could want more?”

Round Ring by 22designstudio

Recently DesignBoom was selling some of 22designstudio’s rings, and they sold out in a flash. I was lucky enough to get one, and I’ve got to say I love it.  The rings are made of Stainless and concrete, and the concrete feels surprisingly smooth.

“Drawn freehand by the designer, the circular frame of this ring acts as
the beginning of a dialog between the designer and the person wearing
it. The circular design creates ever-lasting space for communication
and interaction between creator and receiver, designer and customer.”

I’m kind of liking this pin. Perhaps it would cheer up some passers-by on your daily commute to work?

“This is how an unfortunate moment becomes a fun accessory. A two part pin made from gold matt finish acrylic that will surely make passers by smile. Just smile back.”
