Baskets Containers

Fair Trade Basket Collection

Baskets aren’t usually the first thing you’ll find in a modern interior, but this Fair Trade Basket Collection possesses a sharp, sculptural quality that would do well whether used as objets d’art or as functional storage pieces. Made from palm wood, these baskets would normally warp over time, but Piet Hein Eek chose to string thin slats together to allow for shrinking and expansion.

NoMess Balsabox Collection

Where to squirrel away those precious odds and ends? In a box, naturally, and why not an extremely light balsa wood box? The imprinted orange ring guides you to line up the lid and box relative to the wood grain, allowing the natural beauty to be displayed as intended. Several sizes available.

Multi Basket Picnic Basket

Is it time for a picnic? I think so, especially if you had this basket from Danish brand Menu. It’s a sort of hybrid between a basket and tray, with two air-tight containers with bamboo lids, two cooling pads, and a felt liner. Stick the cooling pads in the freezer before you head out to keep your food cool. It’s like a bento-box-basket, isn’t it? You could, of course, also use it off-duty around the house (as shown in last image) to corral all manner of odds and ends; there’s no need to keep it just for outdoor activities.

Beautiful Insights Storage Boxes

This goes to prove that a storage box can be an objet d’art, as I want a few of these just to look at and admire, forget about their function. Place one on its own in the room of your choice for specific storage needs, or stack several for a ‘miniature-home’ look. Be sure to take a look at the whole collection, as there are quite a few gems (besides my favorite, the Secretary, there’s the Housewife, Handyman, Woman in Bath, and Gallery Owner).

MagContainer

Magnetic wooden boxes that fit together for storing all sorts of sundries? Yes, please. Too bad it seems like only one retailer stocks a few pieces stateside, but that’s better than nothing. Crafted by artisans from Tokushima, each box is created in shapes of 30-degree increments. The magnets are embedded within the sides, so you may combine them in random geometric stacks that’ll stay put until you decide to change things up.

How could you use a basket? How about for storing firewood, laundry, towels, magazines, toys, or your discarded dreams? It’s way too early in the year for that, though, so let’s just stick to tangibles. You can even turn these baskets upside down and use them as a side table or stool. Or crazy hat. Such versatility. Soji Containers

Whether you use these containers in the kitchen for storing tea leaves or elsewhere to corral odds and ends, you’ll enjoy their beautiful Castor Aralia wood grain. Segmented Jars by Ben Fiess

Are these jars meant for functional use or merely as art objects? Perhaps both, as rare as that might be. Ben Fiess brings us quite a few color options on these slightly-odd-yet-beautiful jars, and each vessel breaks apart into container, strainer, lid and cap.

Iittala Jars

Iittala Jars are certainly a beautiful way to store away your odds and ends in the kitchen, bathroom, or office. The jars are mouth-blown of non-leaded glass and have airtight lids with a rubber seal. Considering the cost, you might want to use these jars for areas where they’d be seen- maybe on open shelving in the kitchen- because it’d be a shame to hide them away in a cupboard or cabinet. Note: You are able to purchase jars separately, however the links below are for sets of 5, in either small or medium sizes.
