Tables

Colors & NOSIGNER’s Cartesia Desk

Talk about crazy storage, check out the way these drawers move in order to open. One goes sideways, two go forward, there’s even a sneaky one in the back for electric cables- or other things that need hiding- that you wouldn’t know is there at first glance. Created by Japanese house Colors, this desk isn’t an impulse buy, that’s for sure, but considering the master craftsmanship and materials, it’ll last longer than you will, given the proper care.

GMT-13

Yes, this is simple, box-like side table. So why does it cost 585 smackeroos? Partly because it’s made from aluminum plate powder-coated in ultra-fine texture, and partly because “its scale is fixed by self-imposed geometrical constraints using the golden ratio”… so there. Does that explain the price tag? It at least explains the name, GMT = The Golden Mean Table. GMT-13 is available in black, red, blue, and white.

QBS

A box is just a box, unless it’s a perfectly square, 17″ box with Rift white oak or walnut veneers and lacquered sides. That kind of box, in this case called the QBS, you can use as an end table, bedside table, or group several together as a coffee/cocktail table. Are you picking up what I’m putting down here? Also available with white lacquer, from MDRN.

Waiter/Waitress Tables

Now, we can all agree that these two tables aren’t cheap (even on sale), but let’s pay attention to the fact that each one can be positioned in different ways for different functions. If used in the C shape position, the tables can nest under and over a seating surface, giving you a very handy tabletop for a drink or device (or both) without taking up too much floor space. Or, perhaps you like breakfast in bed? Either table could be the perfect resting spot for your morning coffee/tea and breakfast plate. As these tables are relatively slim, I’m guessing that they’d be easy to move around your home as needed.

Wintercheck 06/08

What happens to orphaned furniture? Often they end up in a very sad place called the landfill, sitting unused and unloved. Wintercheck Factory has saved a few pieces from this slow death, and, with some upgrades and additions, they’re now available online for your purchase (at not bad prices, I might add). Pictured above is the Felt Top Table, $375, who in a previous life sported a linoleum top and was drawerless.

Wire Basket Table

So, what do you get when you add a wooden disc to a Wire Basket? A small, lovely, graphic table, or just a lid for the basket, depending on the way you look at it. Both basket and top from Ferm Living, of course.

Spacebox Wall Mounted Storage Table

If you have a small space, you need a few tricks up your sleeves to maximize every square foot. Count this Spacebox Wall Mounted Storage Table as a smart option for a small worktop. Use it for your laptop (or breakfast), and then when you’re done, fold the top down to free up extra floor space. The open-front compartments are ideal for displaying your favorite items and books, and will give a little personality to the otherwise blank white frame. Think of it for the kitchen, hallway, or kid’s room.

Noi Dining Table

There are quite a few minimal dining tables out there in the marketplace, some of them quite affordable, but not very many of them can claim remarkable craftsmanship in the way the top meets the base. If you look closely, you’ll see that the Noi Dining Table’s surface rests within its steel frame, giving an ultra-slim look and a very durable edge. And, not to worry if you want a specific size or color; Ohio Design offers a good selection of options.

Slot Table

How about adding some smoky, gray acrylic to your living room? This side table has a built-in slot to store books, magazines, and/or your tablet, and you can mix things up by using it upright (as shown above) or on its side (shown below). The subtle, reflective surface makes it a smart choice for a sleek accent piece.

Tablo Tables

These tables have that soft minimal look that’s often hard to find. The rounded wooden legs contrast nicely to the sharp edged plastic top, and you’ll also be happy to hear the legs are easy to assemble for transport or storage. Available in large or small, black or white.

Nice! This white powder coated steel table from SOBU is suitable for indoors or out. It obviously has a little Saarinen influence, but, happily, has a pretty affordable price tag. Also available in bronze (indoor only), where you’re able to see the textured/patterned top.

Celine Desk

I’ve always been a fan of furniture with simple, clean lines, and so it’s no surprise that this Celine Desk caught my eye. One drawer hides away clutter and, on the right, an open cubby provides a nice spot for a stack of papers or folders. And, hey, 15% off (for a limited time, of course) makes this desk a little more ‘within reach’, if you know what I mean. The designer Nazanin Kamali was inspired by mid century architecture.

Guapo Desk

One drawer might not cut it if you tend to collect lots of stuff on your desk, but if you lean towards the ‘less is more’ approach, then this desk might just be a good fit. A thin, iron frame gives strength without taking up too much visual space and the depth is right at 19″, which means it could work as an entry console if you have the room.
