I love these haphazardly stacked shelves from the kids at SLOOM&SLORDIG.

Skram – Concept 3 Media Unit

This custom media unit is available in a multitude of woods.

“Designed by Jacob Marks, the unit offers generous storage for A/V equipment in the form of a long, narrow flap style door on the right side, additional shelving or storage for the subwoofer on the left (please note at time of order placement intended use for this space), and a slender drawer mounted in the aluminum slab leg. ‘obo’ stackable asymmetrical shelving by jeff miller for baleri italia

The asymmetrical containers are made out of glossy plastic using the same ‘carousel moulding’ technique that was used to make arik levy’s ‘folded’ table – in other words it has a bright, polished, and scratch resistant surface.

It is suggested that ceiling or wall anchorage be used for stacking above 4 units

connectors are available; one element is included.

Halogen Credenza

I love the sleek lacquer red of this credenza- looks sharp, and has a pretty decent price to boot.

“Tons of hiding space for your minimal place. Clean lines in slicked lobster red lacquer span almost five feet to broaden storage options. Expansive top pedestals a widescreen. Sleek double doors slide to hide A/V-ready shelves with a gap for cords and back cutouts. Wood composite; powdercoated metal “L” legs and slim vertical door pulls. Also available in white.”

Harry Allen Books Book Shelf

I’m certainly a fan of Harry Allen, and I’m pleased as punch that he’s got this new “books book” shelf (sounds funny). I might have to add this to my list of things to get once I figure out where I would put it.

“The Books Book Shelf by Harry Allen has a matte white resin finish and is wall mounted. From his famed Reality series, the Books book shelf has been cast from actual books.”

Gesh Sideboard

At just over $500 off the original price, I’d say this sideboard is a serious consideration.

“This striking sideboard, designed by Terence Conran and exclusive to The Cornan Shop, has a mocha-stained beech-veneer frame and anodised aluminum sliding doors and base. It has an internal vertical divide and a shelf in the left compartment with a removable CD/DVD/Video inset in the right compartment, making it a multi-functional piece of furniture.”

Hivemindesign – Tier Shelving

I’m guessing most of us don’t have this kind of cash lying around just waiting to be spent on a bookcase, but it sure is impressive.

“Behind the Tier Shelving’s simple silhouette lies a complicated fabrication technique resulting in no visible hardware. As well as appearing to be free floating, this wall mounted shelving system is available in two different shelf depths, 12″ or 16″. An optional 24″ deep desk surface is also available. Shelf widths are available in 4′ or 8′ lengths. In addition, you may choose an overall unit height of 6′ or 8′. To customize your unit further, you may choose from two different dimensions between your shelves, 12.75″ or 17.25″.”

Aluminum tiers support walnut or oak veneered shelves. Aluminum available in multiple finishes; anodized natural or powder coated white, orange gray, and red.

Reclaimed Patchwood Cube Cabinet

Maybe I’m crazy, but I’ve always been one for the more eclectic look at home, and maybe that’s why this cabinet caught my eye. I like how it has a relatively modern structure overall, with the different types of wood being the interesting thing about it…and I think whatever pieces surround it in a home would determine the classification of style- if you put it with country rustic, it would definitely read that way, but juxtaposed with something modern it could be a really unique modern piece.

“…handmade from barn wood, molding from houses and beaded board. This unique accent piece is a patchwork quilt of interesting patterns and textures handmade by Georgia artist Margaret Taylor. Combining rustic material with practical and modern design, this sturdy steel patchwood cube will be an ideal storage piece in the dining room, bedroom, bathroom, entry way or kitchen.”

Lucio Console

Man, I’d buy this if we needed a media console (though it might take some time to save up for it). It’s so simple and I love the sliding walnut doors.

“Four sliding doors integrate beautifully into the piece, enhancing the console’s rectangular shape. Each door reveals adjustable shelving, easily accommodating large and small objects. Wood veneer available in 3 finishes, with a stainless steel base. Shown with a Dark Walnut case and Natural Walnut doors.”

Treku Bookcase

These shelves are great for any application, such as in a study, office or living room. What’s great about them is that they rely on gravity for strength, so each shelf has a weight load of 110 lb for each shelf without putting any real stress on the wall.

Storyline by Frederik Roijé

This shelf would be just the thing to display your books- all the while being an excellent statement of modern aesthetic. I love that it can go vertical or horizontal and that you could change the look just by rearranging the books.

‘Sound finds a physical identity in the beautifully crafted Storyline bookshelf. By first processing a word into soundwaves, the physical shape is then mirrored in powder-coated steel, using an explicit folding technique. Appropriately enough, the word that inspired this lovely piece was “bliss”.’
