Filson Luggage Collection

This luggage collection looks like it could belong to Indiana Jones. It’s both utilitarian and elegant, which is kind of hard to pull off, so it deserves consideration if you’re thinking about updating your traveling gear.

“This durable luggage collection is made with industrial-weight rugged twill that’s densely woven and soaked in paraffin wax. The result is a strong material that’s highly water repellent, even in arduous conditions. Brass fittings resist corrosion in fresh or salt water and full-grain, vegetable-tanned bridle leather provides comfortable, durable straps.”

ECO Pneumo Dry Sacks

These dry sacks are noteworthy for several reasons. First, they’re designed to keep your valuables and electronics dry, perfect for backpacking trips where rain could be involved. The sacks also feature an easy-to-open recycled aluminum valve on the side which twists open and closed to purge trapped air inside bag, helping to reduce bulk.

Most notably though, is the fact that it’s made sustainably:

  • Constructed with a non-dyed, single-coated bamboo fabric, these durable dry sacks will keep your gear dry and the world around you clean
  • Bamboo is a highly renewable resource that is easily grown without fertilizers and pesticides, resulting in far less impact on the environment
  • Pacific Outdoor Equipment purchases environmentally friendly wind power to offset the carbon created in the production of the sacks

The North Face Base Camp Duffel – Large

The North Face is one of very few logos that I can look out without getting an allergic reaction (anybody read Pattern Recognition by William Gibson?). This bag actually looks pretty sleek, which seems unlikely considering it’s a duffel coated with polyurethane, but there you go. It looks decent.

“Main compartment features a D-shaped zippered opening for high visibility of entire interior, plus an internal mesh pocket for organization; Shoulder straps with an alpine cut for comfortable, easy hauling as a backpack; Constructed of waterproof, tear-proof and abrasion-resistant 1000-denier polyester; coated with PVC on the inside and polyurethane on the outside.”

World Traveler’s Plug Set

These make adapting your electrical devices look fun- maybe because they look kind of puzzle-ish?

“These five lightweight and compact adaptor plugs accommodate plug sizes in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America, Japan, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. Made of high-impact plastic. For use with electrical appliances that suit or are switchable to suit the foreign wall outlet voltage.”

DIY hand sanitizer

When you’re traveling, anti-bacterial hand washes are great to have because more often than not, you’re eating on the run. My good friend D. over at Less is More Balanced has come up with a recipe to make your own hand sanitizer which not only smells amazing and really works, but also is a genius way to keep all those little bottles out of the landfills.

Make a solution of 60% of alcohol and 40% distilled water and then add a dash of your favorite essential oil. Peppermint smells amazing, but I’m sure any oil would work just as well. Since it is liquid, you will want to put it in an atomizer or spray bottle (I like the one’s sold by Muji) because that will make application easier.

All three of these would be completely suitable to be seen with while jet-setting. I especially like the white with the mirror finish, though I don’t know how it would look after a few trips…all three feature functional innovations such as ABS shell, for lightweight supreme protection, and silent moving soft wheels.
