ZipShot Tripod

Wow, you’re going to have to watch the video here to understand how awesome this tripod is. In a matter of seconds the legs spring out to a full standing tripod. The compromise for the added convenience is that the legs are not individually adjustable. Certainly not for the serious photographer crowd, but should work well for everyone else. Now how long does it take to refold it? Hmm…

Paint Can Pinhole Camera

I just saw this at a local store. You can always make your own pinhole camera out of materials laying around the house, but if you haven’t got the time this could be a fun gift to buy for yourself. Plus, you have to appreciate that the packaging is the product itself.

The Paint Can Pinhole Camera was developed and patented by Jim Kosinski.

Cell Phone Telephoto Lens

Hmm. Sometimes I wish my phone would take better pictures, but as to whether I would go to the trouble to carry this around and put it on when I want to take (better) pictures, I just don’t know. I’m curious as to how well it would work.

“Simply and easily top the camera on your cell phone, iPhone or any other smart phone with this external lens, sure to upgrade your phone’s camera to create high-quality photos. Coated optical lens for magnifying objects up to 8 times; clear focus; adjustable clamp for fitting most phones.”

Adjusts from approx 1.5″w to 2.75″w.

Pentax Optio H90

I love this little camera. It’s specs are perfectly competitive: 12 Megapixels, HD video recording and it’s designed to be compatible with the Eye-fi wireless memory cards which mean you can connect to your computer and upload your pictures without a cable. The best thing about it though are the colours and the styling. It’s very minimal with a distinctly Japanese look and the colours are very refreshing. Orange if you’re bold or clean black and white if you’re more conservative.

Available from February 2010 for $179.95

The Fuji Instax Instant Camera

Saw this over at oneplusinfinity, where Tim gave it a thumbs up with the only negative being the price of the film. I agree. Yikes.

You see, the Instax is a bit different than its predecessors. It prints credit card-sized photos on bold Fuji film, but retains a classic instant film look that everyone loves. Plus, you’ve got more control when you’re shooting: four exposure settings for indoor/outdoor shooting, a built-in flash, and a sweeping wide angle. No USB cables, no memory cards, and no computer. Just a few basic chemical reactions that develop in the palm of your hand. Best of all, Fuji continues to make new cameras and new film, so you won’t need to go hunting for your instant film fix.

Camera: $90.00
Camera and Film: $105.00
Film Twin-Pack (20 exposures): $20.00
Three Film Twin-Pack: $55.00

Bottle Cap Tripod

This is exactly the kind of thing you don’t think you’ll need until you do.

This provides a solution to the issue that’s probably as old as the camera itself: What to use as a tripod when you don’t lug a tripod around? It’s easy, this little Bottle Cap Tripod slides onto the vast majority of national and international water caps, the universal adaptor fits onto pretty much every camera and the little hinge allows the little baby to swivel gently. That’s it you are done. Whether it’s the family picture, that special night shot or anything else that requires a tripod, the solution is in your pocket from now on.
