Lounge Chairs

Pallet Chair and Table

Is anyone reminded of Studio Mama’s pallet furniture plans? If you were intrigued by the plans, but not the DIY type, you’ll be happy to see these, especially considering there are surface color options. When both table and chair are folded flat they can stack together for storage.

Pumpkin Chairs

If exclusive items are your sort of thing, then maybe you’ll be interested to hear that Ligne Roset is celebrating their 150th anniversary by offering this special edition of the Pumpkin chair by Pierre Paulin. With only 150 in each color (red or blue wool), and only 42 of those available in the US market, you better put your name down quick if you want one for your own home. Originally this chair was designed for the drawing rooms of the Elysee Palace in 1971.

Tavares Chair, White

Just yesterday I updated the post of this chair from last year, as the price had increased from just under $700.00 to $1,459.00. Now, I’ve no idea how MoMA has the price of $825.00, but it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than $1,500.00. Plus, knowing that it can go outdoors as well is all the more reason to snap it up.

Designer: Marco Sousa Santos
Suitable for indoor or outdoor use.

Spark Lounge Chair

This affordable (and colorful) lounge chair is from the same designer that did the Aeron® and Chadwick chairs (both task chairs for those of you that didn’t know already). Surprised? I am. With all the tilts and levers and stuff on the latter two, this chair seems quiet and unassuming in comparison, except for the color choices, of course. It’s lightweight (polypropylene) and stackable, which makes it a good choice for a multi-purpose space.

Designed by Don Chadwick.
Stacks six high.

Lamino Chair

Pretty much every time I walk by the Skandium Store near my flat I see this chair. It’s lovely in person, just as it seems in the photos, with quiet lines and impeccable craftsmanship, plus it’s comfortable (as all lounge chairs should be). Voted the Twentieth Century’s ‘Best Swedish Furniture Design’, it’s sure to be a piece that you won’t get tired of.

Dune Grande Lounge

This fiberglass shell chair looks like a mid century classic went through some kind of warp zone, doesn’t it? At just about 4 feet wide, it’ll not go unnoticed as a seating option, that’s for sure. And don’t fret if you’re short on space; there’s a slightly smaller (and less stretched) version available (shown below).

Dune Grande Lounge: $1,895.00 (49.25w x 34d x 24.5h inches)

Loll COCO Chair

We previously mentioned Loll’s fantastic Adirondack Chair, and are quite happy to announce their new COCO chair, a very Eames-inspired modern lounge chair available in six different colors. It’s made from 100 percent post consumer recycled plastic and weatherproof, so don’t be afraid to bring it outside now that spring’s right around the corner.

Designer: Christopher Douglas
Colors: black, chocolate, sky, apple, leaf, white
Material: 100 post consumer recycled plastic, “made from 184 milk jugs”

FLY easy chair

Indoor or outdoor, this chair has some style. The knitted fabric reminds me of the Slow Chair, but, of course, this chair is a little more angular to be mistaken for its sibling. The cantilevered seat makes me wonder how much ‘give’ it has when you sit in it; does it bounce a little perhaps?

Designer: Patrick Norguet
Available in Black, Green, Brown.
Dimensions: h:710mm, s:410mm, w:710mm, d:720/400mm

Bokja Vintage Bucket Chair

While the price of this chair might scare you more than the fabric does, it’s an excellent example of how a rather normal chair can become completely crazy with the right (or wrong) choice of fabric. Hoda Baroudi and Maria Hubri of Bokja Design use all sorts of fabrics to revitalize vintage finds, and if you’re not familiar with their work, it’s worth a glance just to see the variety of textiles. All pieces are handmade by traditional craftsmen, and the vintage textiles used are from Uzbekistan, central Asia, and other countries along the Silk Road. Take a look at Bokja’s products and believe me, you’ll certainly find inspiration (and courage?) for reupholstering any of your current threadbare furniture.

Domus Lounge Chair

While this chair was designed in 1946, I can’t say that I’ve seen it around that much. Now, the Domus Chair, sure, that’s no stranger, but the curvy lounge chair pictured above is brand new to my eyes. The black stained version has my name written all over it (you just can’t see it because the text is so small, ha ha).

“The characteristic Domus Lounge Chair was designed, alongside the Domus chair, for the public spaces at the Domus Academica’s student housing.”

Triumph Lounge Chair

I usually complain about furniture being too expensive, but in this case I’m surprised the price is so low. For you budget-plus-design-conscious folks, you might consider this snazzy red chair.

-Red bonded leather
-Steel base with a red powdercoat finish
-Padded foam seat

Ilio Black Diamond armchair

Well, looky here at this angled armchair. Seeing as the structure can be rotated into different sitting positions, you could think of it as two chairs (and a ‘dynamic sculpture’) for the price of one.

Polyurethane and fabric(%67,30 acrylic, %32,70 polyester)
2 positions : POSITION 1 = L 135 cm x W 110cm x H 79 cm, POSITION 2 = L 140 cm x W 115 cm x H 50 cm

Folding Chair and Ottoman

I’ve been catching up on my rss feeds, and was delighted to find this Folding Chair and Ottoman over on Cool Material. Easy to transport and easy to store, it looks like something to seriously consider if you’re short on space (or, on the run).

Inspired by the clever design of pop-up books, we developed a chair that could be used as a permanent piece of furniture in modern homes and businesses but could also be easily transported, stored, and set up. Despite the minimalistic form, it provides a comfortable and stable resting place just about anywhere.

* Made from a single sheet of plywood
* Folds flat in seconds for quick storage
* Assembles easily without tools
* Optional snap-on cushions (in 3 colors)

The chair folds down to a 60″ x 30″ rectangle, at 1 3/4″ tall.
Shipping and handling for the Folding Chair anywhere in the Continental US is $130.

HOI Magazine Chair

It seems like there’s a recent trend in furniture designs where you can literally surround youself in books. The Bibliochase and the Bookinist were the first examples I’ve seen, and we mentioned the Cave shelving on the blog before, and now we have this, except this one specifically caters to magazines (not that you can’t put books on it if you wanted to).
