Lékué Ice Box

Unless you’re very strange or live in the UK, chances are you’ll be using ice to cool down your beverages this summer. This Ice Box by Lékué will certainly come in handy, as the silicone ice cube tray doubles as the lid, which allows you to make and store up to 132 ice cubes. (Fun fact: that pattern you see in the tray is a Voronoi diagram, fyi.)

10.4.2 Utensil Crate

Yes, the 10.3.2 Knife Shelf was just featured a few days ago, but this is a utensil crate, and is even more appealing as it would house all manner of kitchen utensils plus knives with its built-in rack to one side. It’s handmade to order, so unfortunately it’s too late for this to be a holiday gift, but keep it in mind as a future upgrade for your current utensil jar.

10.3.2 Box Knife Shelf

A knife rack that’s also a shelf sounds handy for anyone not too clumsy- otherwise there might be some issues. On Our Table has several other sizes of non-shelf knife racks, as well as a walnut bread box ($190 CAD) and a wide-yet-shallow box knife block ($180 CAD) that are worth checking out as well.

Kitchen Brush and Glass Container

Hmm, not sure exactly what you would store inside this container, but it seems like a good idea to have a kitchen brush as a lid of a storage vessel. The brush could scrub pots and pans or your vegetables, but would you put soap inside the container? Or baking soda for cleaning? Your imagination might be useful in determining the best use.

“Pinchy” Wooden Clip

Yes, you could go on using those plastic clips to keep your bag of snacks fresh. You could also choose to purchase these wooden pins (made from sustainable farmed wood, of course). Perhaps the wooden pins would add the tiniest bit more pleasure in that they’re “designed”, but then again, perhaps you’d be just as happy with old fashioned wooden clothespins (24 pack for $9).

KINK Vinegar Bottles

Just when you think your kitchen needs nothing more, someone goes and makes a vinegar bottle beautiful. Who needs a beautiful vinegar bottle? Well, nobody, really, but if you’re particular about the tiniest details, then you might as well go all out on a vinegar receptacle. There’s also the Kink Oil Bottle ($125) if you want a matching set.

Juuri Storage Jars

These are some of the nicest storage jars that I’ve ever seen. Each glass container has a flexible silicone collar that ensures an air-tight seal. While they’re intended for functional kitchen storage, you could easily use them wherever you need a container, say, for organizing desk items or jewelry.

Formal Collar Apron

These aprons are one of those things that are both wonderful and extremely silly looking, at least at first. They’re designed in the style of a formal/business suit, perfect for those of us “who consider cooking a serious business as much as an affair of art.” From Aiste Nesterovaite,

Paus Breadboard

Time for an update: this breadboard has long been a favorite, not because I spend much time in the kitchen, but because it’s just so simple and lovely. There’s a lift-out perforated top so you can catch all the crumbs and dispose of them easily. Gift note: while this might not be a jump-out-of-your-seat kind of present, it certainly is a thoughtful and well crafted item.

Kaikado Canisters

For any tea or coffee purist, you’ll know that a good canister is a must in order to keep your key ingredient fresh. These hand made canisters are from Kaikado, a family in Kyoto that has kept the technique alive since 1875. It takes more than 130 processes to complete one single canister. Available in Copper, Brass, or Tin. See below for more pictures and sizes.

SpiceCare Modular Spice Storage

This looks to be a smart storage option for spices. Each container is stackable, as you can see, but they also interlock so you can group together regularly used spices on the shelves or in a drawer. A stainless steel insert allows for labeling and there’s also shaker screen inserts should you need them. See video below for more info.

Sleek Spoon for Jars

What’s the big deal about a blue spoon, you ask. Sometimes the tiniest tools make our lives a little easier, and that is just the case for this spoon designed by the Castiglioni brothers. It’s intended to retrieve the very last bits at the bottom of the jar, and, for anyone particular about using up the last teaspoon of mayonnaise, jam, or spread, it’ll most certainly be appreciated. Originally designed in 1962 and reissued by Alessi in 1997.

DrawerDecor

Whoa. I don’t know about you, but my kitchen drawer could use needs something like this. Currently I have the basic utensil organizers that are available everywhere, but they don’t fit like this custom one; they don’t even come close. Entrepreneur Keith Nielson created this system of modular sheets and dividers that you can trim and reposition specifically to your needs. Each set comes with one BaseMat (food-grade silicone) and an assortment of dividers.

Blue Bell Apron

We didn’t do any kind of Father’s Day gift guide this year, mainly because there weren’t a lot of requests, but mostly because we didn’t feel it necessary. You know what to get your father, right? No? Well, if your father figure likes cooking or grilling, I recommend this apron by Winter Session. It’s made from raw, unwashed denim and has the look of brand new overalls. Plus, there’s several pockets for tools and such.

Milky Way Minor Cheese Knives

If the La Via Lattea Cheese Knife Set was way too rich for your wallet (at $400, I’d say that’s likely), but you loooove your cheese enough to treat it to something sort of special, check out these puppies. Designed by the very same Mr. and Mrs. Gasparini, this series was intended as lower priced option for an “interested public but not necessarily to experts.”
