An inkless pen? Just how is that possible? Well, it involves a mixture of lead and metal alloy (lead = be careful, don’t let kids use it, etc.) that creates a grey line like a pencil, except it doesn’t smudge and can’t be erased. Oh, and it never needs refills. Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it?

Note: if you are particularly picky about paper, do a little research and read a few reviews on WRITERSBLOK journals- a few people have commented that the paper is a little thinner than Moleskine notebooks, so you might have some ink bleed-through if you prefer heavier/thicker ink. Talk about minimalist office supplies, could this tape dispenser be reduced any further? Made of mirror polished stainless steel, it measures 2.25″ wide and 3.25″ in depth. That could be the smallest dispenser ever, or at least the smallest (and least likely to offend anyone’s eyes) available in today’s marketplace. It certainly won’t win points for ease of use, but for those of you that want a dispenser to fit in a small desk drawer or perhaps even your briefcase or bag, it could be the right option.

While you could use these cards for correspondence, you might also consider framing a few for a special spot somewhere in your home. Each illustration is a small bird drawn to scale 1:1 by artist Fanny Shorter and the set includes some of the tiniest birds in the world. Which one is the smallest? Apparently the Bee Hummingbird at 5.5 cm long- that’s 2.1653543 inches. Tiny!

See those tiny red letters and what they spell out? Early voting begins in several states this week, and now’s the time to motivate yourself and others to participate in this year’s elections. Maybe you could hand them out around the office, or post one in a conspicuous place on the bulletin board at your local dry cleaners or favorite lunch place. Sometimes it only takes the tiniest push to get someone to the polls (and other times it takes a bull horn).

Time for an update. We posted these years ago, and they’ve not disappeared from our wishlists, though they have slightly changed in terms of pricing and available retailers. These Rubber X-Bands would come in handy for all sorts of office related papers and miscellany, or, better yet, for keeping a small gift box sealed as shown. Each box has an assortment of four sizes and colors, 16 rubberbands in total.

Do you think Columbus Day should be rededicated as Explorer’s Day? Sounds better, doesn’t it? However you feel about the issue, and whether or not you have the day off, don’t let that adventurous spirit inside you get too comfortable on the sofa. Take a trip! While you’re at it, maybe bring along this travel journal: there’s a checklist, a diary, an international translator (perhaps not the most thorough, mind you), and the pièce de résistance, of course, is the scratch off maps. Scratch off the towns and chart your journey through a continent. Maybe it’s a little fussy for the serious traveler, but if your approach is more carefree then it could be a fun way to keep track of your travels.

Stamps! Whether you think you need them or not, take a look at the various designs of the Arcadian Stamp series from Imm-Living. There’s one or two that’s sure to tempt you, perhaps the old fashioned telephone, or typewriter? Another Country has some lovely furniture, for sure, but have you seen these desk accessories? The smaller items have just as much thoughtful function and considered style as the furniture pieces, and, dare I say, it’s hard to go wrong with that particular brand of consistency. There’s a tall Pencil Pot, a Sharpener Pot (for pencil shavings), a Tape Dispenser, and an Eraser Pot with an actual eraser as its lid.

Don’t let your nice writing instruments get lost or damaged; keep them safe and sound in a nice leather case like this one. A zippered compartment holds smaller items while two pouches leave room enough to store several pens/pencils/rulers/etc. Maybe bookmark it for a nice gift idea?

Bookplates! Maybe not that exciting if you’ve fully abandoned paper pages, but if you still harbor a love for the old fashioned tome, you might just like to have a few blank bookplates on hand. Keep track of the place/date you bought the book, inscribe a special sentiment before giving as a gift, or, as I might do, write in your name so the book will eventually find its way back to you if it’s ever borrowed.
