Listen up if you’re in the market for switching out cabinets in your home. LA-based Semihandmade offers custom IKEA doors in all sorts of materials. Buy the cabinets from IKEA (because you can, and it’s affordable) then choose your doors from Semihandmade. It’s as simple as that. Plus, check out the pricing, it’s actually pretty good.

John McDonald from Semihandmade:

“Materials include one-of-a-kind veneers, colored laminates, and reclaimed lumber.
The concept is simple: go to IKEA and buy everything but the doors, panels and drawer faces. IKEA makes it easy since really unlike any other cabinet manufacturer, they don’t make you buy the doors. They also offer quality boxes and the same Blum hardware we carry at Handmade.
This Fall we’re introducing REDO custom packs of doors, tops and legs that convert those same IKEA kitchen cabinets into furniture – hanging bookcases, media cabinets, credenzas, even baby-changing stations. People have been “hacking” IKEA cabinets for years, REDO makes it stylish, safe and easy. The name comes not only from the fact that we’re offering lots more reclaimed lumber than Semihandmade, but also using quite a bit of the off-cuts from previous kitchens. Because each job is so specific and unique, there’s often a fair amount of material remaining after each job. REDO lets us recycle great stuff that might otherwise end up in a corner of our shop or – worse – a landfill. Best of all, we’re able to pass along the savings to the consumer.”
