“nar” means “pomegranate” in turkish. Pomegranate is a fruit that holds hundreds of juicy seeds inside. It’s a fruit that symbolizes fertility. Nar coffetable carries books and books carry ideas. Ideas can be distructive as much as they can be constructive. Our aim was to emphasize the danger and the dilemma it holds with utter nakedness.

"petek" means “honeycomb” in turkish. Honeycomb, known with it’s lightness and structural stability also gives it’s form to Petek. Stand-alone library based on the same principles with “Salkim” can hold many books. 6mm. Steel tubes bent into a geometric shape forms a strong constructions with it’s structural joints.

"sema" is the name given to the dance of the whirling dervishes. It is a coffeetable with a turning top and rotating bars below it which can be utilized in storing books, magazines and newspapers. Top is in mdf and the leg in steel.

Pictured in the post below (classic study solution), this modular shelving unit is a great alternative to the basic elements most of us succumbed to in our university years; not only can you combine the elements in whichever way you choose (low tv stand, medium credenza-ish bookcase, etc.) but you can add to it as your needs grow.

Sabrina and Dylan Jones launched Studio North Design (SND) in 2001, bringing attention to an often overlooked material: forest-salvaged, old-growth Douglas fir. A straight-grained, amber-colored wood, it’s acquired through forest salvage logging, where skilled sawyers mine usable wood out of logs that have long since fallen in the forests of the Pacific Coast. Their Modular Shelving (2004) refines the basic concept of dorm-room-style cinderblock and plank shelving. Consisting of simple blocks and shelves in coordinating sizes, the additive system means that shelves can be added and taken away as desired. Compose the pieces horizontally as a credenza or media storage, or build vertically to create a bookshelf. The Joneses’ non-wasteful approach to design includes up-cycling: Remnants from the creation of one product become the basis of another. It’s their belief that wood used in its natural state, that’s consciously sourced, is one of the most eco-friendly materials available.

While this might be high on the price scale, it sure has some nice attributes: the very large size and the odd (but good) door colors.
