Sitting at that sweet spot of just under $1G, this sofa looks super comfortable. I’d say it’s a very safe bet if you’re looking for a modern sofa in that particular price range.
Sit on it and you’ll know why this smart looker’s named Bolla (Italian for “cloud”). Skinny right-angled frame hugs overscaled poufy side/back cushions that squoosh in contrast to a firm uni-seat cushion. Structured and relaxed all at once in tonal salt/pepper tweed. Recessed legs float it just off the floor.

I fell hard and fast for Deadgood when I first saw their Love Collection, and I might just have a serious crush on the Capsule Sofa and Chair. The colorful buttons and graduated tones add just the right amount of playfulness… might be the perfect thing to knock the serious edge off a room.
This fully upholstered collection of seating utilises off cuts of fabric to create a graduated run of colour tones and textures that cover an arrangement of irregular sized buttons. The forms themselves are derived from a simple three-dimensional capsule shape which creates a comfortable and engaging seating range, suitable for either commercial or domestic applications, with a tongue in cheek reference to the solar system and 60’s space age adventure. The Capsule Collection can be supplied in a variety of colours and button textures to match your exact requirements.

Capsule 2 Seater Sofa (685h x 2000w x 900d), £3712.20

This sofa looks oddly modern despite the traditional silhouette. Maybe it’s the fabric done in a Kvadrat Wool, or maybe it’s just that more traditional frames are back in style nowadays.
Elegantly shaped European hardwood frame with jute webbing and hessian straps. The Upholstery is Kvadrat Molly Wool and cushions are feather-filled. Walnut stained beech compose the feet. Despite all this, it is a truly comfortable seat.

As beautiful (and comfortable) as this collection is, the price just plain hurts. When will the Bouroullec brothers do an affordable line of wonderful items? (Now, if you’ve got 7 and 13 grand allocated for a chair and sofa, respectively, then good for you, but I’d rather not hear about it.)
The visual appearance of comfort is articulated through the unusual upholstery of the Quilt series of chairs and sofas. A pocketed outer layer, constructed from hi-tech stretch fabric, has individual foam pieces inserted within it. This outer layer is texturally rich and inviting. Like a quilt or rug, it is then placed loosely upon a fiberglass shell and steel frame. The Quilt is the antithesis to the formal, structured sofas and seating design we have become familiar with.
Designer: Ronan Bouroullec and Erwan Bouroullec
Available colors: Navy Blue, Black, Pale Grey, Red
Sofa: $13,420.00 (L 78.7″ x D 47.2″ x H 27.6″)
Armchair: $6,550.00 (L 33.1″ x D 47.2″ x H 27.6″, Seat H 13.8″)

Similar to the One Night Stand Sleeper Sofa (except armless), this sofa bed folds down to accommodate afternoon napping or overnight guests.
The name says it all. Sit up or sleep it off. Quickly convert from upright lounging to horizontal sprawl. Playful contrast cross-stitching, kicky French seams, and a solid stainless steel base add pizzazz to the straightforward yet inviting form.
Material: Wool blend upholstery, brushed stainless steel legs.
Specs: (inches) 80w x 41d, Seat height: 16, Seat depth: 22

Shazam! Check out this snazzy seating option from the lovely Ms. Uroquiola. While perhaps the thinner cushioning seems to be more fit for an office or reception area sofa than a jump/sink/settle-in-to-watch-a-movie-type sofa, the lines and style are spectacular.
Hollow is a modular compact seating collection for reception, lounge and meeting applications. The concave plastic panels enhance the appearance of the lightness and give the collection its name. Numerous variations in finishes and dimensions allow the Hollow collection to be specified in diverse variations with alternative monochromatic or contrasting aesthetic options.

Here’s a new sofa to add to your list of considerations. It’s got that Danish Modern feel that we all know and love (right?), and if you lean towards neutrals for large furniture pieces, there’s five excellent shades to choose from.
The Luna sofa is a modern take on a classic Danish design. Its beautifully simple shape is upholstered with a comfortable and versatile cotton blend fabric. Button tufting on the back cushions gives the sofa a retro feel. The solid wooden frame and legs give it a sturdy, confident stance. Luna’s removable back and bottom cushions sit atop an upholstered well-tailored deck. The Luna sofa is available in five color choices: Charcoal, Chocolate, Pewter, White and Khaki. Wooden legs are available in two finishes: Honey and Espresso.
TrueModern uses sustainable birch and low VOC finishes, making them a green manufacturer.
Materials: Metal legs with white enamel, fabric.
Specs: (inches) 84w x 31h x 36d
