Now, take a moment here. Given all the popularity of knitted poufs lately, namely the Flocks Pouf and other such delightful ottomans, this rope buoy ottoman is a steal of a deal. Sure, it’s ‘nautical’, and made out of jute rope, but I photoshopped the lifebuoy out of the picture just to help you see how it’s essentially a wonderful little textural piece. It could be a smart addition to a room that needs a little ‘oomph’ as far as character.
Coir filled, covered in jute.

I’ve been catching up on my rss feeds, and was delighted to find this Folding Chair and Ottoman over on Cool Material. Easy to transport and easy to store, it looks like something to seriously consider if you’re short on space (or, on the run).
Inspired by the clever design of pop-up books, we developed a chair that could be used as a permanent piece of furniture in modern homes and businesses but could also be easily transported, stored, and set up. Despite the minimalistic form, it provides a comfortable and stable resting place just about anywhere.
* Made from a single sheet of plywood
* Folds flat in seconds for quick storage
* Assembles easily without tools
* Optional snap-on cushions (in 3 colors)
The chair folds down to a 60″ x 30″ rectangle, at 1 3/4″ tall.
Shipping and handling for the Folding Chair anywhere in the Continental US is $130.

Finally, an affordable pouf.
I’ve really loved the looks of the poufs from DWR, but at $1600, the cost was prohibitive to say the least. Now CB2 has come out with one in 100% cotton. The bad news: it only comes in the one color. The good news, it’s 100% cotton so it’s ripe for a quick little DIY using either bleach or Rit-dye to suit even the most sophisticated color-palates.
Dimensions
left pouf (CB2): H 14″ Diameter 20″
right poufs (DWR): H 11″ Diameter 24″ (top), H 15″ Diameter 33″ (bottom)

These poufs not only add pattern and interest to a room, but also they add a soft texture to a seating area. Plus, you can’t go wrong with anything done by Donna Wilson, or maybe you can and I just refuse to believe it.
*Each is made by hand stuffing Calico bags and upholstering them with knitted panels, reminiscent of segments of an orange.
*Upholstered in a specially designed Donna Wilson knitted wool pattern made in Scotland.

How do you feel about feed bags as upholstery? It sounds sort of awful (doesn’t it?) but I actually like the way these ottomans look.
The Upcycle Ottoman is upholstered using a supply of surplus jute bags previously used to transport organic coffee beans. The durable bags, which would otherwise be thrown away, have been repurposed to make an original accent piece. The jute features screen-printed stencils and logos which identified the original goods, making each ottoman completely unique. Bench-Made in Canada.
