I'm trying to figure out how add a shower to a narrow half bath by taking over a closet to get some extra room. Unfortunately there's not a lot of room to take any more width, so there's not really a way to add a shower door or other major division.
This small bath separates the lavatory from the shower with a simple step down, but keeps the flooring and wall tiled with the same glass mosaic to give the feeling of a larger space instead of smaller fractured spaces. The drain in the floor and simple shower head doesn't take a lot of space and because there's not a door, the space feels more open. Also, the little perch for shampoo and soap is not obtrusive into the space, yet perfect for the necessities. [posted by kris]

I've been looking at the possibility of turning a large laundry room into a second bath, which means basically starting from scratch when it comes to all the fixtures. As you know, it can add up really quickly and the next thing you know, you've spent $15,000. One way to reduce costs is by searching at discount plumbing supply stores, as long as you have time to search.
Here's a great shower entry that's 1/3 the cost of what I've seen at other design stores. It was listed at $2,500 and now it's only $799! [posted by kris]

This is an interesting interpretation of a shower. This is a remodel of the Woodside House in Auckland by the Strahan Group Architects.
You could create the same effect with custom glass which you can get locally. You can also get the shower head very economically for only $50. You can use your existing shower piping or your plumber can get it for you.

Take a look at this penny sized cork tile- I really like the look and it gets a bunch of points for being recycled from the cork stopper industry's by-product.
Cork Mosaic Tile in this 1" Penny Round style is perfect for walls and floors and even ceilings and is water resistant. So easy to install and seal for a waterproof and insulating flooring or wall covering. Sold by approximately 1 square foot (.92 sq ft per sheet)and comes in double sheets measuring 11.5 x 23(1.84 sq.ft. double sheet) for faster installation.$14.95, Buy it here. [posted by katie]

Looking through
architonic, I happened across this glass. It looks amazing- wish there was an up close picture to show the 3d effect...
"An award was made to Inglas Deko Wilder Wein for its special decorative properties. This , laminated safety glass with integrated decorative material consists of two thermally pre-stressed sheets of glass, with processed tendrils of Virginia creeper in the bonding area. In order to create the effect of space (3D effect) the tendrils of creeper are positioned at different levels of the bonding area. Typical applications for Inglas Deko Wilder Wein are shower partitions, partition walls, table tops and furniture sections." [posted by katie]

Check out Izola's Shower Curtains- they've got some different versions of NYC's subway system and a few other patterns as well. My absolute favorite is the Faile Series one on the right.
