| Buy it here

Like the post on Malmaison hotels, this is another stylish chain if you’re visiting the UK. (Actually they are sister companies.)

Hotels du Vin are styled a little more classically and located in smaller, more traditional cities in the UK, as well as a couple in major cities. The emphasis is very much on cuisine and you will find excellent cooking in all of their hotels. Between these and Malmaison hotels, you should have your visit to the UK sewn up.

Hotels du Vin have hotels in Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Cheltenham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Harrogate, Henley-on-Thames, Newcastle, Poole, St Andrews, Tunbridge Wells, Winchester and York and rooms start at £175.00 per night.

Bell Alarm Clock by Sam Hecht

Bell Alarm Clock by Sam Hecht -- $ 65.00| Buy it here

I certainly love modern takes on traditional designs. Designer Sam Hecht ditches the radio and dreaded electronic alarm buzzer in favor of the traditional ringing bell alarm, and wraps it in a sleek and modern design. No, don’t worry, you won’t be needing to wind up this clock, the internal clock mechanism is battery powered.

Available Colors: Red, Black, White
Dimensions:  W94 x D64 x H97mm
One AA battery included.

Haptic Lab Quilts, Soft-Maps

Haptic Lab Quilts, Soft-Maps -- $ 800.00| Buy it here

I might be late on the bandwagon to see Emily Fischer’s Soft-Maps, but it’s better late than never. Her to-scale maps quilted onto blankets are pretty wonderful. Custom orders are available and word on the street is that the quilts make excellent gifts for big life events (weddings, etc.). Readymade has an HDYGTFAJ interview with her, I recommend it.

Shown above: Map area: WIlliamsburg Bridge to McCarren Park, BQE to East River
Map details: handstitched waterfront, parks and bridge
Queen (88″ x 96″): $800.00
Twin (50″ x 70″): $500.00

Mini-quilts are also available at a more affordable price: 18 x 24″ or 24 x 36″.

Claude Modular Collection from Jonathan Adler

Claude Modular Collection from Jonathan Adler -- $ 995.00| Buy it here

Modular systems can offer much needed versatility to your home, and this system does so with a distinct mid century flair. A half drawer unit plus half seat (not shown) would be ultra handy in a entryway, and the look of the two-2 drawer units on a double base (shown at top) could look very nice as a bedroom dresser or console. The only drawback is it can get a bit pricey when you start adding up the costs.

White or Ebony.

Single base (26″ wide x 17″ deep x 9″ high): $195.00
Double base (59″ wide x 17″ deep x 9″ high): $395.00
2 Drawer Unit (32.5″ wide x 17″ deep x 15.5″ high): $800.00
Tray unit: $150.00
Tray Seat Cushion: $195.00

Stratus Bed

Stratus Bed -- $ 999.00| Buy it here

With a modern silhouette and a white slipcover, this bed is a smart buy. Plus, it’s machine washable, which means less upholstery to dust and vacuum.

…our eco-friendly white wonder remains wonderfully white…thanks to a 100% cotton twill, one-piece slipcover that velcros off to go right in the washing machine (dryer, too). Skinny profile headboard has Italian-style flanged edge.

Slipcovered Queen Bed (66″Wx83″Dx38.25″H; 10.5″): $999.00
Slipcovered King Bed (80″Wx86″Dx38.25″H; 10.5″): $1,199.00

Jimmy McBride Galaxy Quilt

Jimmy McBride Galaxy Quilt | View it here | [via]

Sorry if you’ve seen this before, but Jimmy McBride’s quilts are ridiculously wonderful and it would be horrible if there wasn’t at least some small mention on our site. They almost inspire you to pick up some fabric and attempt at some space-inspired quilts of your own, right?

Prices seem to be around $1,750.00-$2,000.00 for a Child’s 38″ x 50″ Quilt*.

*I don’t know about you, but for that price, that sucker is going on a wall, not on a kid’s bed (unless they are very very cold, of course).

Case Study Alpine Series Bed

Case Study Alpine Series Bed -- $ 2,895.00| Buy it here

Efficient minimalism, indeed. Made entirely of multi-ply bent laminated wood, this bed is just about as structurally sound as you can get with this sort of craftsmanship (while keeping the design aesthetic, of course). The smooth curves do echo Alpine sports, but I’d say it’s more reminiscent of a mid century design classic than ski equipment.

The frame is the first to be built almost entirely of bentwood, giving it both fluidity and strength. The bed was inspired by alpine sports like skiing and toboganning, where strength, lightness and a strong graceful structure are crucial. As in the aesthetic of Alpine sports, the Alpine Series bed embodies efficient minimalism and craftsmanship. It’s one and an eighth inch bentwood structure is engineered to last for generations. -modernica.net

“Here you will dream of endless kissing” and “Here you will dream of people you admire exposing your fraudulence” pillowcase set. The wondrous and wonderful Miranda July, a stunning new voice in, well, film, art, performance, literature…While she is finding it difficult or rather unnecessary to confine herself to a single genre, her work is instantly recognizable by an unmistakable charm and humor that can inject the everyday with a surprising magic.

Klippan Billgren Wool Blanket

Klippan Billgren Wool Blanket -- $ 220.00| Buy it here

Oh my, are you not completely smitten with these blankets? I sure am; the only difficulty is choosing between them.

Over the years, Klippan’s designers have created new patterns that have been well appreciated and this year is no exception. This year Klippan asked Ernst Billgren to design an anniversay blanket to celebrate Klippan’s 15th year since they launched their first wool blanket using almost fogotten production techniques. Ernst Billgren is regarded as one of Sweden’s most treasured artists. He is also a member o fthe Swedish Art Academy since 1997. Unique in his diversity, his designs often reflect nature, mythology and national romanticism. The Billgren blanket an incredible work of art in itself, is available in Brown/Beige and Black/Grey 100% Wool .
