Domus Lounge Chair

While this chair was designed in 1946, I can’t say that I’ve seen it around that much. Now, the Domus Chair, sure, that’s no stranger, but the curvy lounge chair pictured above is brand new to my eyes. The black stained version has my name written all over it (you just can’t see it because the text is so small, ha ha).

“The characteristic Domus Lounge Chair was designed, alongside the Domus chair, for the public spaces at the Domus Academica’s student housing.”

Designed by Iilmari Tapiovaara
Dimensions: 59w x 70.5d x 39/86.5h

Well, looky here at this angled armchair. Seeing as the structure can be rotated into different sitting positions, you could think of it as two chairs (and a ‘dynamic sculpture’) for the price of one.

Folding Chair and Ottoman

Folding Chair and Ottoman -- $ 650.00| Buy it here | [via]

I’ve been catching up on my rss feeds, and was delighted to find this Folding Chair and Ottoman over on Cool Material. Easy to transport and easy to store, it looks like something to seriously consider if you’re short on space (or, on the run).

Inspired by the clever design of pop-up books, we developed a chair that could be used as a permanent piece of furniture in modern homes and businesses but could also be easily transported, stored, and set up. Despite the minimalistic form, it provides a comfortable and stable resting place just about anywhere.

* Made from a single sheet of plywood
* Folds flat in seconds for quick storage
* Assembles easily without tools
* Optional snap-on cushions (in 3 colors)

The chair folds down to a 60″ x 30″ rectangle, at 1 3/4″ tall.
Shipping and handling for the Folding Chair anywhere in the Continental US is $130.

HOI Magazine Chair

HOI Magazine Chair -- $ 2,425.00| Buy it here

It seems like there’s a recent trend in furniture designs where you can literally surround youself in books. The Bibliochase and the Bookinist were the first examples I’ve seen, and we mentioned the Cave shelving on the blog before, and now we have this, except this one specifically caters to magazines (not that you can’t put books on it if you wanted to).

I fell hard and fast for Deadgood when I first saw their Love Collection, and I might just have a serious crush on the Capsule Sofa and Chair. The colorful buttons and graduated tones add just the right amount of playfulness… might be the perfect thing to knock the serious edge off a room.

This fully upholstered collection of seating utilises off cuts of fabric to create a graduated run of colour tones and textures that cover an arrangement of irregular sized buttons. The forms themselves are derived from a simple three-dimensional capsule shape which creates a comfortable and engaging seating range, suitable for either commercial or domestic applications, with a tongue in cheek reference to the solar system and 60’s space age adventure. The Capsule Collection can be supplied in a variety of colours and button textures to match your exact requirements.

Capsule Chair (685h x 1050w x 900d), £2621.99
Capsule 2 Seater Sofa (685h x 2000w x 900d), £3712.20

Moooi Dickies Chair by Anthony Kleinepier

Moooi Dickies Chair by Anthony Kleinepier -- $ 860.00| Buy it here

Seeing how beanbags have become quite acceptable in the living area, why not a beanbag-ish chair that’s shaped like a… well, you know. This is the first I’ve seen it on sale, but as noted, the price is limited to stock on hand.

With the Dickies, Anthony Kleinepier likes to raise more questions than answers, so the expectations and codes of our daily environment become vague. This makes people wake up to the fact that they are entitled to an interpretation of their own. It makes you think it is time again to use all our senses and not only believe in what we see. The Dickies Chair create a casual contemporary look.

Lazy Bastard Armchair by Bertjan Pot for Montis

Lazy Bastard Armchair by Bertjan Pot for Montis -- $ 1,495.00| Buy it here

What a Lazy Bastard. If you bought this chair, you could say that all the time, and if someone got mad and started to punch you, you could say, “Wha?! I was talking about the armchair you’re sitting in!! WTF?!”…Wouldn’t that be fun? Basically a bean bag on legs, this armchair looks super comfortable because it is. May I recommend the black color instead of the suspiciously-seventies-inspired pea green color?

The chair, which is called Lazy Bastard, is filled with polystyrene balls like a beanbag, but also has arms, a back and legs. A beanbag sits and fits like a glove. The polystyrene bead filling adjusts to any sitting position. Bertjan Pot combines the casualness of a beanbag with the comfort of a lounge chair. He placed the beanbag as it were on legs, in a smooth outer shape that contains the flexible contents. Lazy Bastard allows for extra comfortable sitting as its seat is higher and fitted with armrests. The specially designed fabric gives the beanbag chair a relaxed look and touch that will particularly appeal to a younger generation.

Available by special order only.
Legs will correspond with fabric color and will match.
Other colors available, please contact store for details.
