Remember this from way back in ‘07? I sure do because it sort of knocked my socks off. As is often the case, there wasn’t much in the way of price or convenient online purchasing options because it was more of a prototype idea, so I refrained from posting it. But just today I ran across an actual retail link, so, here we are. If you’ve got the cash it’s a pretty fabulous seating option for a larger space (i.e. office area or loft).
Wallfa is an intriguing two sided piece of furniture that is both wall and sofa. It offers a comfortable sitting area that becomes playful when users interact from both sides of the wall. Movement, sound and touch hint at what might be happening on the other side.
designed by Jordi Canudas.

Usually the phrase ‘inspired by’ signals something iffy going on, but this piece is a good choice if you’re in the market for a chaise. While it’s distinctly midcentury in design, the classic pared-down design will mix well with other styles and allow you quite a bit of versatility. The sale ends today, so take notice of the prices if you’re interested.
The American Modern Chaise (2008) is inspired by George Nelson’s iconic design for a daybed that he created in 1948. Nelson’s work – whether designing clocks, lamps or furniture – expressed his desire to “do much more with much less.” Still true to Nelson’s straightforward design aesthetic, we’ve made updates to take advantage of today’s manufacturing techniques. This Chaise stands on a simple maple frame, which is crafted out of solid FSC-certified wood. A precursor to the modern platform bed, it is made with slats that permit air circulation through the cushion, and the bolster cushion is removable to create a larger surface for sleeping. An additional arm with bolster (sold separately) can be added to the foot of the Chaise. Made with removable covers for cleaning, the cushions are upholstered in fabric by Maharam, a family-run business that’s been producing textiles for more than 100 years. Made in U.S.A.

Minimal elegance, indeed. This chaise by Council Design is a sight for sore eyes (or head, as the case may be), looking like the perfect resting place after a long day’s work. It’s quite dear in price, though, really a shame for those of us without super thick wallets.
Designed by Khodi Feiz. The simple and beautiful conversion mechanism that takes Peel from vertical to horizontal is on display in this study in minimal elegance.

This is probably one of the more versatile sofa/sectionals out there, and until tomorrow (Jan 27), you can get DWR’s upholstery sale price as well as free shipping (Feb 3), which all adds up to some pretty significant savings.
The Vega Collection (2005) provides a unique solution for environments used for socializing, lounging and sleeping. When a larger Sofa is needed, the Chaise and Ottoman are ready to oblige; slide the pieces together to create the required size. Should a sectional be in order, two or more pieces can be quickly combined. For further flexibility, the arm of the sofa can be positioned on either side and changed on a whim. The Sofa and Chaise transform into comfortable sleepers by sliding the seats – which rest on metal bases with internal tracks – and folding down the arm of the Sofa or the back of the Chaise. Made in Denmark.

This sofa gets points for being the perfect replacement for all those ‘daybeds’ that we’d rather not have to consider.
The James Lounge by Gus Modern is a very versatile sofabed perfect for your guestroom or for small apartments. By day it is a stylish sofa and by night a stylish bed.

This is not something particularly new, but this is the first I’ve seen of the other sizes (the Single looks especially comfortable as a chair, and how cute is the Petit size?).
A seating system that reflects the ever changing emotional state of the body. The number of positions the Feel seat has is as wide as the imagination. You can sit on it, lay and relax or just lounge on it.

The vintage look of this leather chaise is slightly reminiscent of a baseball glove…not a bad thing, I might add.
Why be a coach potato when you can be a chaise frittata? With a stainless steel frame and quilted leather seat inspired by the 1950s Barcelona chair, this wonderful chaise has been pre-conditioned to achieve an invitingly worn, vintage look.

If you ignore how this sofa looks like it’s in a CB2 showroom, you can almost sort of picture it in a real home as a really cool sofa/convertible bed.
Convertible three-position seater/sleeper is the am/pm solution for the space-challenged or the friendly out-of-towner. By day it’s an upright but comfy lounge that can also angle back 45 degrees for TV/reading. Shut-eye rolls around, the back flips all the way down and voilà …a worthy platform bed with real pocketed coil mattress innersprings that sleeps two. Tailored bright neutral in olivine textured weave channeled with a baseball topstitch and neat flange along the edge.
