This dining chair catches the eye, doesn’t it? It almost appears to be a lounge chair because of its high back, but rest assured that the seat matches the standard dining height. Made from solid beech, the J110 chair is part of Hay’s 2011 relaunch of the Danish furniture classics originally made for FDB, the Danish Consumers’ Co-operative Society.

Yes, we’ve featured this little guy before, but after a couple of years, he needs his info updated. This stool appears to be inflated plastic, but is, in fact, made from welded steel sheets that are industrially inflated. This manufacturing process (called FiDU (Freielnnen Druck Umformung)= ‘free inner pressure deformation’) was developed by Oskar Zieta and allows for lightweight forms to hold a fair amount of weight with minimal material. No two are alike.

Because this table is made from scrapwood, each is one-of-a-kind. There’s also a non-scrapwood teak version (pictured below), but you’d do well to consider the more interesting scrap version, as Mr. Eek is known for that sort of thing (remember the Scrapwood Wallpaper?).

Expletive! This Envelope Chest is so very clever for its appropriation of the classic string-and-button envelope closure. It has custom leather rounds and cord (instead of paper and string) and has soft close hinges. You would be hard pressed to find a console table more simple than this. Heavy duty steel with super thin legs means it almost disappears, yet it’s sturdy enough to take a few stacks of your massive art and photography books.

Redo-me is a system of pieces that you can reconfigure to make an endless array of furniture. Sounds a little far-fetched, but it looks pretty easy to assemble and the end result has a modern erector-set-feel that actually looks nice. You’ll have to do a little translating on the site to figure out which set combinations you need to make what you want, and for those of you that go for it (despite the overseas shipping) you get a high five. It’s also worth taking a look at Redo-me’s blog for customer pics and such.

While not new, this completely-amazingly-designed-angular-modern-lovely chair by Tom Dixon is still something to talk about. Might I mention that it is also stackable? It’s made from solid lacquered oak deeply brushed to expose the grain. Also available in natural.

Update: Does 50% off sweeten the deal? This is on sale for $149 from $299 (I’m assuming until quantities last).

The whole bench/valet idea has seen a few iterations in the last few years, but this version is perhaps the most affordable. A solid ash frame and white lacquer gives a light look while the vertical post provides a spot for hats, bags, jackets or clothes. Might be perfect for an entryway perhaps?

I’m obsessing over 1970′s vintage leather right now, and mainly this arose out of living with a man who is allergic to my cat. My wool Bottoni sofa is a virtual sponge for cat dander, and my poor boyfriend can’t take it any longer. We looked at new leather–but if you buy a high quality piece it will cost about as much as a car. So, on to Ebay I went. I scored a cool 70′s Italian leather piece from B&B Italia for a song. There are similar listings on auction sites for around $8500, but if you’re not in a hurry, you can wait it out and get a good price like I did.

I’ve been looking for a table for my entry for things like mail, keys and other remnants from a long day of work. At the time, I wasn’t able to find anything, so I had something made by a local craftsman for under $300. It’s a nice sturdy piece, but it doesn’t have drawers, and that would definitely keep that area tidier than it is looking now.

This piece by WestElm is actually almost exactly the same size, but it has the drawers that I’m now wishing my custom console had. Constructed from solid mango wood, the piece has a nice muted look.
