Domino Lamps

Domino Lamps -- $ 145.00| Buy it here | [via Design Milk]

Brooklyn-based home furnishings company Grenkol creates an interesting palette of textures with their Domino Lamp series, consisting of cast oriented strand board concrete coupled with candlelight-brightness low wattage incandescent light bulbs. I really love the industrial toggle switch as a finishing touch. Available in 1, 2, and 4 socket configurations and also offered as a set.

Leti Table Lamp

Leti Table Lamp -- $ 369.00| Buy it here

First of all, I don’t know how this has missed our attention. I’m 99% positive that one of us has posted it before and somehow it was deleted when we did our last site remodel. Second, how the hell did I miss that it’s also a bookend? It’s a great looking lamp, but that little detail makes it excellent.

Design by Matteo Ragni.
Large, 16.5″ H x 12.13″ W x 8.75″ D, $539.00
Small, 12.5″ H x 9″ W x 6″ D, $369.00

Sabine Iron Glass Desk Lamp

Sabine Iron Glass Desk Lamp -- $ 268.00| Buy it here

Simple, but the gold finish dresses it up quite a bit, no? It’s nice that it’s just the base and the glass- no shade to take up space. There’s also a floor lamp version but it’s price is a bit steeper at $880.

Dimensions: H:26” x W:12” x D:11.5”

or, as a ‘weekly special’: $230 here. (not sure how long that’ll last)

Swoon. Designboom has pictures of this lamp when it first hit the scene in ‘09 (Milan Design Week) along with the designer’s quote, ‘I designed this lamp with the image of a bird perched silently under the moonlight in mind.’ A lovely thought, isn’t it?

Mater Black Dome and Shade Pendal Lamp

Mater Black Dome and Shade Pendal Lamp -- $ 700.00| Buy it here

I think my heart stopped at the sight of the Black Dome Lamp. What is it about black matte lamps? Maybe it’s that the appearance is so contrary to their function? Whatever the reason, these two lights are lovely and minimalist (and expensive).

The dome lamp is an iconic representation of “what is light.” Light emanates evenly in a 360 degree pattern from its source (such as in the case with the sun), so therefore the most honest approach toward the design of a lamp was a spherical solution. The design is essentially a “globe” form, “hollowed out” to allow the light to distribute. Such a mathematical solution enables the design to be timeless and familiar, however completely new in approach, as it is more of an engineering solution than a fashion-based one.

Design House Work Lamp, Gold and Chrome

Design House Work Lamp, Gold and Chrome -- $ 100.00| Buy it here

Who knew a boring work lamp could look so attractive simply by a few tiny changes and some gold-plating? (I’d wager a guess there are many things that would benefit from the same transformation, though don’t go and be all completely ridiculous about it.)

The Swedish trio behind Form Us With Love–Jonas Pettersson, John Lofgren and Petrus Palmer–refined the lowly utility light into something beautiful with a few new bends of the angled cage, a dimmer switch to match your mood, and thickening those wires by plating them in chrome or gold. The naked bulb is protected–you can treat it as haphazardly as the one in your garage. But it’s so striking you’ll want to spotlight one or more in your home or office.

Packaging: Gift Box
Size: 8″ t x 5.8″ dia
Cord is 10′ long with dimmer and plug.

The lamp comes in gold-plated ($120.00) and chrome-plated ($100.00) versions.

Also available here: € 145.00

(Thanks Malin!)

Cord Lamp Mini

Cord Lamp Mini -- $ 149.00| Buy it here

Look, the Cord Lamp in a smaller table size! As you regular readers know, I love the Cord Lamp and have it in my own home (see pic here), so obviously I have to post the smaller one.

From a snake nest of winding cords, this lamp shoots straight up and stands tall on its own. Surprising the eye by challenging the unexpected, the Cord Light is simple, yet characteristic. The cord, one of the most disturbing decorating details has been made useful. The piece is made out of a standard bulb, textile cord and steel tube.

Manufacturer: Design House Stockholm
Design: Form Us With Love
Height 38 cm

Also available in Europe: € 139,00

New Lamp by the. -- $ 1200.00| Buy it here

We posted some work by “the.” before–they have a smallish portfolio of really clever work and they’re worth checking out.

This particular lamp would look amazing on my bedside table. However, the -$1200 would not look good in my bank account.

Construction: Laser cut translucent white acrylic with cool-white fluorescent bulb
Dimensions: H 16″ x W 6.5″ x L 9″
