Do you remember Scout Regalia of garden box fame? Well, now they’ve introduced the first piece in their indoor furniture collection and it doesn’t disappoint. The SR Bookcase is available as a 1, 2, or 3 bay system, which means you can customize it to fit whatever space you need and there’s a whopping 210 paint colors and sealed wood options to choose from. Standing at 7′-8′ high with 5 shelves and 2 adjustable shelves within the base cabinets, I’d say it’s sure to fit a fair share of books and such.

Movable storage units are handy to have, especially if you get bored with the way your furniture is arranged or if you move around a lot. Just recently I ran across these Cubo storage units by LOT61, a small furniture workshop founded by Datumzero Design Office. Doesn’t mean much to you unless you’re in the biz, I guess, but they specialize in contemporary storage pieces, all of which are particularly nice and worth checking out if you’re in the market for consoles or credenzas. We’ll most likely do other posts on more of their collection soon.

Interesting display shelving by Marcel Wanders for Moooi would be perfect for displaying records, books, or photos.

Jonah Takagi is a Japanese/American RISD graduate who I discovered through the Matter Made line sold at Matter. His work is simple and beautiful. This piece is made of birch and can be used as a storage system or room divider and it packs flat and uses no fasteners.

There’s nothing like a bunch of boxes to fit random storage needs. This set by The Utility Collective includes six boxes of varying size that you can stack any way you want. If you get bored, just mix/move it around. It’s also nice that the more squarish boxes can double as end tables if needed.

What do you get when you don’t follow the instructions? Kenyon Yeh took standard Ikea flat-pack furniture and assembled them as he saw fit, creating an altogether new design with occasional added elements.

This rather simple shelving system gives a sense of lightness despite its size. Soap-treated oak sticks, powder-coated steel and screws give the frame strength and stability, and don’t worry if pink and sky blue don’t quite suit your interior plans, as both sizes are available in three different colors.

So, get this, that’s the price. There’s no ’1′ missing, nor any zeros. And why does a bamboo bookshelf that looks this cool have the reasonable price tag of $699? Apparently the retailer doesn’t use distributors; they manufacture their products on demand and sell them direct. Hmm… any takers?

These would be super handy to own if you happen to move around a lot. Whether you stack them for book storage or use them as small tables, they’re certainly a smart upgrade from plastic milk crates (which we all had at one point in our lives, so don’t feel bad if you’re guilty of owning them now). I can also see them working well in a kid’s room, only if the kids are past the climbing up furniture stage, of course.

Like Russian nesting dolls the Nester Boxes fit inside of each other for easy transport and shipping. The small footprint also cuts down on the amount of packaging needed for shipping. Each box is finely crafted in molded ply creating simple and versatile storage. They can be used stacked for book storage or if used as singles they can function as small tables.

Whoa. How amazing is this storage unit? It sort of reminds me of those shoe closet hanger thingies except bigger/better/stranger. I wonder if this could be replicated in a DIY sense, for those of us that can’t afford the price tag? I can see it working well for newspapers or magazines, or even to store clothes (if you can afford such a thing purely for wardrobe purposes).
