ModKat Litter Box

Yes, $180.00 is a lot of money, but if you have a cat (or cats), you know a solution to the unsightly litter box is well worth a good stack of bills, even if they are twenties.

Who says a litter box can’t embrace form as well as function, work with your d├ęcor and provide an unparalleled experience for your cat. Not us. The ModKat Litter Box is the answer. Its modern design compliments any room, while the enclosed base and “rooftop access” allows your cat the privacy needed to do his or her business.
Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from the non-skid feet that keeps Modkat put, to the locking rooftop that keeps nosey pets and curious kids at bay. An ergonomic scoop with incorporated brush stores neatly on the side and the reusable litter liner is friendly to your wallet and to the environment.

Specifically designed for laptop users, this desk hides all peripherals underneath the surface to allow for a clean and organized workspace.

All peripherals and excess cables are hidden just under the sliding desktop surface. The storage compartment is therefore conveniently accessed from above. An elongated slot across the width of the desktop allows the necessary peripheral & power cables to enter/exit at any point, thereby keeping the desktop clear of clutter.

Mate Sofa

This sofa is so incredibly comfortable. It has excellent proportions and fits the curve of your lower back perfectly. I would completely recommend it if it’s within your budget. (Also, there’s a floor sample on sale at the Marylebone location in London*; I think it was marked at £2,000.00 and looked a little more red than the orange pictured here.)

Launched at the 2008 Milan Furniture Fair, Robin Rizzini’s Mate sofa is hugely inviting. Its soft cushions make it wonderful to curl up in, while it remains equally comfortable to sit upright in, thanks to seat cushions that are not too deep and a back that is just the right height to be supportive. It has a solid wood frame with elastic belts, concealed feet and a fully removable cover. It is available in other fabrics and as a modular system in a wide variety of sizes and configurations. Spare covers are also available to order.

W94 x D35.5 x H26.5 in.

Upcycle Ottoman

How do you feel about feed bags as upholstery? It sounds sort of awful (doesn’t it?) but I actually like the way these ottomans look.

The Upcycle Ottoman is upholstered using a supply of surplus jute bags previously used to transport organic coffee beans. The durable bags, which would otherwise be thrown away, have been repurposed to make an original accent piece. The jute features screen-printed stencils and logos which identified the original goods, making each ottoman completely unique. Bench-Made in Canada.

Bender (Shelf)

I don’t know about you, but I could use several of these to tidy up my stacks of magazines (all of which have flags of things to post or research) that currently take up most of my available desk space.

How often do we find ourselves with piles of magazines hard to access?
This rack is ideal for the storage of precious documents such as books, magazines, etc.
Bender comes as one whole sheet of metal. It’s easily folded and there’s no need for additional tools. Due to its vertical storage-system less space is utilized making it also ideal for tight areas.
Bender can be hung in a variety of different ways, combining colours and positions.

Stack

I saw this in person recently (at Matter, which might be my new favorite store), and I have to say it is one impressive piece. Sure, it looks more like an art object than a usable storage tower, but it’s delightfully both.

Stack is a tower of ‘floating’ drawer units that can be pushed and pulled in both directions. This will often result in a random and irregular formality that is both fascinating and unusual to the eye. Stack is available with 8 or 13 drawers.

Designer: Shay Alkalay
Materials: MDF, plywood
*Dimensions and pricing are based on the 8-drawer version. Contact Matter for further pricing.

Ball Poster Bed (King)

Ah, isn’t this a lovely bed? Isn’t it just spectacular? Every once in a while (if not often) I’ll run across something that I think ‘oh, wow, that’s a great piece, I wonder how much it is?’ and then almost have a heart attack when I see the price. If I ever spend $20,000 on a bed, just shoot me. That being said, if you’ve got the money to spend, and you choose to spend it on this, I will not shoot you, nor will I encourage others to do so. To each their own.

Dramatic and beautiful, this interpretation of the traditional four poster bed is a complete scene-stealer. The balls and frame are made from burnt and waxed ash, finished by hand, with a slatted base in beech wood. It is exclusive to The Conran Shop and can be made in custom sizes.

Console Desk by Studio Moe

This slim-lined console desk by Studio Moe was a quiet star at ICFF this year. The dimensions allow for placement pretty much anywhere that’s tight on space (depth wise), yet it has the full functionality of a desk with its well crafted drawer and wide work space.

All of our pieces are created from resawn hardwood beams salvaged from dismantled buildings across the country…Close to a billion board feet of wood are removed from buildings in the US every year. By reusing this material we reduce the impact on our landfills, eliminate the need to harvest trees, and are reminded of the simple beauty inherent in old wood. We use Ash as our primary species. An indigenous hardwood, ash has a unique blend of durability, stability and warmth.
