Dymaxion Folding Globe

You may be familiar with Buckminster Fuller’s 1946 patented a map of Earth, as it presents no visible distortion of the relative sizes of land masses. Designer Brendan Ravenhill has taken Fuller’s projection (and architect Shoji Sadao’s hand drawn 1954 Dymaxion Projection) and turned it into a magnetic folding globe, which means we all have something to do with our hands next time we’re waiting for a brainstorming session to strike. Fold it into a geometric globe or unfold it to see our planet flattened out.

Maple Raised Chopping Block

Short on counter space? The Maple Raised Chopping Block is just for you, as it creates space underneath for placing knives or other accoutrements. Quality craftsmanship takes it straight to the table for food presentation, as the sliding dovetail joints are cut with such precision that no glue is required. It’s equally suited for camping, as the legs keep the board off the ground and the surface is long grain (instead of the usual end grain) to keep the board light and packable.

Snowe Bath Towels

If you need to refresh your bath towels, you need to look at Snowe’s offerings. I ended up buying their Starter Bathe Bundle last year* and I can honestly say they’re the nicest towels I’ve ever owned. They’re soft and lightweight, and soo much better than the top-of-the-line towels I used to buy from you know where. I am still impressed with the quality, so much so that I ended up buying another towel bundle (plus two bath sheets) from them just now**.

Contain those odds and ends with a bowl that looks even better empty. Maybe that will motivate you to put everything away in its right place? We can hope. Klemens Schillinger’s Landmarks Bowls have a sculptural presence with their stepped interiors that looks way more expensive than they are, meaning you get a whole lot of bang for your buck. Pinorama Board

All those little pieces of paper and bits and bobs scattered about, just where are you going to put them? Maybe on a perforated metal sheet, with a partial cork backing like this Pinorama Board by Inga Sempe for HAY? I’d say it’s as good as any other place, especially as it has a range of accessories (shelves, mirrors, cylinders, an elastic net(!), and hooks) to customize it just the way you want.

Water Clock

Whether you love or hate this clock, we can all agree it adds a different element to tell the time. Magnets are employed to let the two balls float on the water’s surface, giving a magical sense of movement. The red ball shows the hours, the white one the minutes. Add an extra receptacle on top of the ceramic base for a more vertical display.

Future Glass Set

The colors of the Future Glass Set remind one of the Spectra Vases, and, lo and behold, they’re from the very same glassworks Holmegaard. Peter Svarrer designed the Future Glass set in 2000, and more than a decade later they look just as lovely on the table… or in a gift box perhaps? Choose between Rose + Yellow, Blue + Green, or Lavender + Aquamarine.

Triangle Dinner Bell

There’s a certain nostalgia connected to a Triangle Dinner Bell like this one from Pat Kim- perhaps period films have us immediately imagining dinner time at an old farm? Whether your estate is vast or your apartment small, ringing a triangle will signify it’s time to sit down and eat, hopefully without our devices. The English Bridle Leather hanger conveniently holds the solid brass striker, making this hand bent steel triangle appropriate for display as well as use. A U Dinner Bell is also available.
