At almost 9 inches high, this relatively small lamp has to be seen in context to be appreciated. The glass base allows the impression of hovering above the table surface which gives a very clean and modern look to a bedroom or living area.

Not only is this nicely modern, it’s also super efficient with halogen bulbs and built-in reflectors to provide an adjustable direct light.
“Mondrian is constructed of steel bar and pipe, and moulded parts. To prevent glare, the lamp housing is moulded with a collar around the light source. The translucent ring in moulded acrylic insulates the heat from the outermost section of the lamp head. The ring lights up when the lamp is on, and indicates how to adjust the light. Mondrian’s light can be directed 180 degrees horizontally and 335 degrees vertically.”

The Mathmos LED lights are so cool and would be perfect for washing a room in color. This one is 8″ across and can be used on a table top or wall mounted. It cycles through the color spectrum and if you find one you like, you can press the light to make it stay there. It would also be great for a kids room.

It’s slightly hard to tell exactly what’s happening with this lamp, and I suppose that’s part of the appeal…

The amount of light emitted depends upon how much the lid is opened. This would make a perfect gift for any of your design/gadget lover friends.
Literally a ‘light box’, Franco Bettonica and Mario Melocchi’s compact Cuboluce allows the level and angle of light emitted to be adjusted simply by varying the degree to which its lid is opened. Made from technopolymers, it takes one 40w E14 R50 bulb (not included). Also available in white or red.

So maybe this is still a little high for a lamp, even though it’s almost half off, but I think it’s different enough to warrant the extra cash. Plus, it’s imported, so that unfortunately affects the overall price.
