CLAMPLIGHT

How much you want to bet that this will be in your local mega-hardware store within the next two months? This is the superhero of flashlights. It clamps onto pretty much anything or it can stand on its own. The head swivels to put light right where you need it. Or, if need be, you can use it just like a regular flashlight. Plus, if you see the video/film demonstration, you’ll think it can fly too. Those poor other flashlights, they don’t stand a chance.

CLAMPLIGHT clamps virtually anywhere and stays out of the way versus stand lights like tripod mounted or snake like lights. Two axis swivel head directs light to any position. Shaped like a traditional flashlight for easy portability or to fit in a belt or pocket. Clamp converts to a stand light by pressing clamp and sliding lock feature. Non skid feet swivel down for stability.

Still Light by Nathalie Dewez

This is incredibly useful as well as lovely. The lamp slides to the desired position from the ‘T’ joint, enabling you to position the light above a table or seating area without messing too much with electrical wires.

Electrical inlets rarely are just above the dining tableThis adjustable pendant lamp responds to this issue by combining functionality and poetry, rationalism and lightness.A lamp you can position in space likea graphic mobile.A thin line seems to float in the air;a puff of wind would have it slightly moving. According to wish or need, the whole lamp slides very simply in the T part that holds it.

Available in two sizes: 240cm and 150cm. Height adjustable.Sets of one or three lamps, sold in convenient cardboard tube package.

Chester Light (Pendant and Floor)

Holy. Someone needs to make this in porcelain so the price can be a bit more approachable, but man, for those of us that like the traditional button tufting found in the ubiquitous Chesterfield sofas, it’s a lovely sight to behold. (Dare I say this light is even ‘cute’?)

Chester designed by Bert furthermore Dennis for Belgian Dark is available as pendant and floor lamp, and refers to the famous Chesterfield furniture.
Designed for modern environments such as bars or lounges or why not at home next to chesterfield sofa.
The very outer casing of the lamp is made of leather and is available in black or white model.

Cord Lamp by Design House Stockholm (personal review)

Yes, this has been posted before, but I recently bought one for myself, so I had to share a pic of it in my home (shown right, and a couple of extra pics here). I’m quite pleased with the useful dimmer switch, and of course there’s no worries as to the messy cord situation. It has my two thumbs up along with a personal stamp of approval.

From a snake nest of winding cords, this lamp shoots straight up and stands tall on its own. Surprising the eye by challenging the unexpected, the Cord Light is simple, yet characteristic. The cord, one of the most disturbing decorating details has been made useful. The piece is made out of a standard bulb, textile cord and steel tube.

Textile cord, H 130 cm (51.2″) Bulb included (GLOBE opal 40 W.)

Jonathan Adler Shelter Island Floor Lamp

Take a look at this Praying Mantis inspired floor lamp by Jonathan Adler. I like the rattan on the white metal frame, especially with the slightly strange angled base.

Little Crush Table lamp

Coated in matte black rubber, a crushed soda bottle is transformed into a sculptural lamp base. (I’m sure the touch of gold on the inside of the lamp upgrades the look a bit too…if the shade was white it wouldn’t look as luxe.)

Each Little Crush table lamp is made using a reclaimed PET bottle and coated in matt black rubber.

The Modo Chandelier by Jason Miller

So, yes, this chandelier is (ahem) expensive, but get this, it can be configured in all sorts of ways due to its spoke and hub system. What is a spoke and hub system? Well, according to some dictionaries it’s all about air transportation, but I’m sure you can probably figure it out by looking at the picture. Also, there’s a 4 Sided ($6,000.00) and 3 Sided ($4,000.00) version if that’s a bit easier to swallow.

All the parts are custom CNC milled from solid aluminum.
Materials: Black anodized aluminum, glass (glass is available in smoke and clear)
Dimensions: 37″ H x 66″ Dia.

Mañana Floor Lamp by Design House Stockholm

This lamp has the same sort of feeling as the Made by Eimear Mirror, no? It’s sort of within reach price-wise as well.

A stick figure drawing from one of Marie-Louise Gustafsson’s sketch-books took on the form of a floor lamp, with its body leaning against the wall.

Mañana means tomorrow in Spanish and the lamp’s laid-back, nonchalant attitude totally communicates chill-out, take it easy, stay cool. The lamp is lacquered in graphite grey to emphasize the feeling of a pencil sketch and has a turnable steel plated lampshade with a large globe bulb to give the feeling of a face.

Hmm. A pillow shaped light, but take note that it’s not an actual pillow (if the metal frame is anything to go by).

Zig-Zag Loft Floor Lamp

I’ve seen this lamp in countless shelter magazines, and each time it strikes me as such a great choice for a reading light next to a comfortable armchair or sofa.

Designed with the ability to twist and turn at the joints without conflict to the wiring, these industrial lamps are not only beautiful but also highly practical. Originally designed in 1950 as the “indestructible” standard for work lamps, Jieldé lamps are now the perfect modern accent for any room. The loft series is Jieldé ‘s industrial strength line based on the very first lamps ever created. Fully adjustable at each joint. 100 watt max A19 incandescent bulb.

Recycled Tube Light

What happens to all those fluorescent tube lights? Thankfully, some of them end up in the hands of Castor Design.

The Recycled Tube Light is made from burnt-out fluorescent tubes and is lit using centrally placed incandescent bulbs. The fluorescent bulbs have been reclaimed from architecturally significant buildings in Canada, such as the TD Tower designed by Mies van der Rohe, Toronto’s Old City Hall and University of Toronto.
