Flow Measuring Cups

These stoneware measuring cups are probably best suited for a weekend cook who has the time to use measuring cups without handles. Iโ€™m not sure how practical they are but I do think theyโ€™re lovely. Since I barely cook or bake Iโ€™d be fine using them, but they may not be suitable for someone that spends a lot of time in the kitchen.

Click ‘N Cook Spatula System

Hmm, take a look at these kitchen utensils. You’re seeing a modular spatula system sourced from Quirky, which features several attachments that snap into a universal handle and are released by clicking the button. Not being all that adept in the kitchen, I’m not sure of the pros and cons, but it does appear to be a good idea.

Included in the set: storage block, ergonomic handle, and five detachable spatula heads.

VIPP Dishwashing Set

Dishwashing is one of those chores few look forward to doing. However, it could be just a little bit more enjoyable for the rest of us with this set by VIPP. Rubber moulded steel protects your more fragile dishes and the brush has an easily exchangeable head. A handy bracket is included to hide everything away inside a cabinet door (though I suppose you could put it on view if you wanted).

Wood Glass Canisters

Storage containers are probably one of the lesser exciting things to shop for, especially when you consider all the other accessories and gadgets it takes to make a house a home. These containers would fit well within the kitchen, office or bathroom, corralling all manner of small things in a tidy silhouette of wood and glass. An optional rubber lip can be slipped on to create airtight storage.

Small ($20) or Large ($23).
(Ack! Small is out of stock, fyi.)

Polar Ice Tray

What is this thingamajig, you say? Well, I know someone very picky about their ice cubes, and that someone would be quite happy to hear that this thingamajig is an ice tray that makes crystal clear ice. An insulated base allows air and impurities to compress at the bottom of the tray, leaving a block of clear ice at the top. Break apart for drinks or freeze flowers for decoration (does anyone do that?).

Scholten & Baijings Tea Towels

You might be familiar with the blankets and cushions of Scholten & Baijings, which are entirely amazing and retail anywhere from ~$250 per pillow and ~$700 – $1,700 per blanket (expensive, but, as I said, a-maze-ing). These graphic tea towels for Hay Denmark are an affordable way to enjoy the design duo’s fluorescent patterns; the towels cost $32 for a set of 2.

Cut and Paste Cutting Boards

White and wood is used so often in product design because it always looks great and its style is timeless. Designer Klaus Hackl implements the two-tone palette in Maple and porcelain for his series of Cut & Paste cutting boards. I think they’re a bit small for serious kitchen use, but are just perfect for the dining table. The medium size measures 11 x 5.7, and the large is 17 x 8.5.

Trio Herb Pot

I can picture this quite clearly upon my kitchen windowsill.

“Scandinavian in its simple, unadorned and practical design, this ceramic pot is an ingenious way of enjoying fresh herbs much like flowers: Insert a bunch in the enlarged opening, and keep hydrated by pouring water into the corner hole. The broad base ensures that all those little stalks have access to water, while allowing air to circulate so herbs keep from becoming limp and waterlogged. Easy to take apart for cleaning.”

Clyde Soap Dish/Brush

Yeah, soap dishes are boooring in a major way, usually way too boring to even bother with. But, if you’re one that always finds bars of soap disgusting because of the ‘watery mess’, take note of this dish/brush. Yes, it’s soap dish and a brush in one. The brush is a silicone tray with pitched bristles, so after you scrub up, turn it over and there’s a tidy nook for soap so that it stays put. Details make a difference.
