Little Bishop Ceiling Hook

Here’s a worthy pursuit: design a better option for placing light fixtures. Yes, you could call an electrician and spend hundreds of dollars. You could also buy a cheap brass hook and knot your cord’s fixture to keep it in place. Neither are ideal, but both are entirely feasible. Now you can add one more possibility to the mix. The Little Bishop Ceiling Hook aims to provide a hook specifically for cable hung pendant lights. This hook is shaped and cast by hand, with an elegant solution to wrap the cord around itself for a seamless installation. It might not fit every lighting situation, but for more temporary solutions on pendant light placement, it’s seems like a smart choice.

Pon – The Punctureless Push Pin

So smart! The Pon is a punctureless push pin by Mark Weiser. Instead of piercing your paper/photo/item, it hugs the item you want to display, thus keeping your item free of holes. Simply slide whatever you want to display inside the coil and then slide it out when you’re done looking at it. Back the project over at Kickstarter.

Daphine Floor Lamp Classic Reading Lamp

What is that floor lamp that keeps showing up in Vincent Van Duysen’s interiors? Why, I was wondering the same thing, as the name wouldn’t quite make itself known amongst the other many products committed to memory. It’s the Daphine Floor Lamp Classic Reading Lamp by Tommaso Cimini, and, yes, I kind of want one too. In production since 1975, the Daphine Terra Classic has a small shade and delicate joints offset by a chunkier base. Its light spreads overly wide, and is adjustable in two steps. While I’d opt for the black (as Van Duysen does), there’s also a white and nickel-plated option.

Japanese Porcelain Lidded Bowls

Each piece of this collection is a hybrid of fine porcelain and durable stoneware. The proprietary blend of local clay from Hasami, Nagasaki gives the pieces a soft and smooth touch, yet you’ll find that they’re strong and robust enough for daily use. The collection nests for neat storage and the ash wood lids double as a serving tray, plate, or trivet. Designed in Los Angeles by Taku Shinomoto and made in Japan.

Moon Phase Dishes

How about a little lunar imagery on your dishes? This stoneware set has black painted moon phases, and, as each dish is around 3.5″ in diameter, they would be a good fit in the kitchen for smaller portions (snacks) or in a dressing area for coins, jewelry, and other small pocket contents.

Blackline Collection from Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co.

If I were one to celebrate Valentine’s Day, I would give one of these cutting boards from the Blackline Collection to my love. Why? Because they’re black, like my heart. Just kidding. The pieces of Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co.’s Blackline Collection aren’t painted or stained, instead, a natural reactive process is used to obtain a distinctive dark finish. This finish is durable and food-safe, as the source of the dye “comes from within the wood itself.” Pretty impressive, and altogether lovely.

Easy Mirror

Stainless steel mirrors are a smart purchase- you’d have to try hard to break them, of course, and they could also possibly double as a weapon. Those two things aside, this Easy Mirror designed by Jamie Wolfond is also really convenient for the glamorous sort of vagabond. Simply press the leg outward to make it stand vertical, then press it back flat when it’s time to pack it away.

Pitcher with Cup from Lagos del Mundo

Maybe you think this pitcher and cup from Lagos del Mundo doesn’t belong on your ‘must have’ list, but that will all change when you’re sitting outside on a hot summer’s day without an aesthetically pleasing receptacle for a cool, refreshing drink. The ceramic pitcher with cup is handmade from natural clay and glazes; the same materials have been used for over 3,000 years, so you’ll not need to worry about this set ever going out of style.

Cold Bruer Coffee Brewer

If you thought cold coffee was for snobs or sugar junkies, think again. Cold brew coffee is often less acidic and less bitter than hot brewed coffee, and more palatable with milk. Using a slow-drip process with an adjustable valve, the Cold Bruer Coffee Brewer lets you play around with brew time to get your ideal cup. However, don’t think you’ll pull this sort of cold brewing off in a quick minute; the recommended brew time is a 6-hour span, at a drip per second.

Repurposed Beer Cloth Apron

If you want to look cool while cooking, throw one of these aprons on. Then, when someone says, ‘Hey, that’s a cool apron’ you can say, ‘Oh, this thing? Yeah, it’s a repurposed beer cloth with old climbing rope for the neck strap and waist tie. Kind of cool, huh?’ And then you’ll flip your omelette (or gourmet pancakes or some other incredibly delicious breakfast food) and look like you’ve got your life completely figured out, you smug bastard.

The Level from FluidStance

No, it’s not a hoverboard, but it certainly will help you move around more. The Level by FluidStance is a platform that increases your range of movement while standing. It’s similar to a skateboard in size, yet it has a central rounded base that keeps your muscles engaged- they’ll need to work a little harder to keep you steady. Take a look at the project over at Indiegogo or see the video below.

Ceramic Self-Watering Planter

Thank goodness, there’s a self-watering planter that hides the fact that you suck at taking care of your plants. It’s ceramic, so that in itself helps make it look nicer, and has two parts to reduce your watering chores. The upper matte cylinder holds the plant and the lower glossy water reservoir will let the plants roots drink as much as they like. Finally, you’ll have a happy plant in a happy, nice-looking planter. It’s a win/win sort of situation.

Tomnuk Walnut Trivet Tray Set

Why should you care about a walnut trivet tray set? Maybe you shouldn’t, as there are much more important things going on in your life, but your dining table just emailed to let me know that it cares an awful lot about not being burnt from hot pots and pans, and why don’t you stop being a slob and protect your nice furniture? That’s what your table said, basically, word for word. You can stack, nest and store these Walnut Trivets from Tomnuk Design, you can even use them as small trays for snacks and other small sundries.
