Slow Brew Iced Tea Maker

Slow brewed tea sounds slightly pretentious, I know, but this little guy makes it look super easy and worth a try. After all, summer is almost here, right? Apparently cold-brewed tea is less bitter and astringent, just like cold-brewed coffee. A double-walled, clear infuser lets you keep an eye on the color while also keeping the tea’s temperature stable. You can even try cold-brewing coffee in it, as the retailer notes.

Kaenjusai Watering Can

Will a pretty watering can make your houseplants happy? Probably, but it will be because you’re happy watering them with the Kaenjusai Watering Can by designer Keita Suzuki. See the matching angle of the handle and spout? That will give you a precise “point-and-pour control” to ensure less spillage. A walnut handle compliments the copper body.

Tea Kettle By NORM Architects

This tea kettle/pot by NORM Architects has a built in steeper that is secured to the top lid when brewing is finished, making the process tidy and efficient. Plus, as the teapot is glass, you can see the brewing process and stop it once the shade is exactly to your liking- especially useful for those of us that are particular about tea. Cactus Vases

Okay, ‘love’ would be an appropriate word to describe my feelings towards these Cactus Vases by Serax. Texture! Color! Shape! And, of course, they look like cacti. Get a bunch of them, please, and arrange them on shelves or tables until you are completely content. No need to fill them with flowers, but, if you want, get a bunch of pretty stems every once in a while just to remind yourself that they are, in fact, vases.

Mirrors by Alex Drew & No One

Mirror, mirror, on the wall… you’re different enough to hang in my home. The Hex Mirror by by Alex Drew & No One features a contrasting inside edge just to make it more special. They also offer the Simplex Mirror, which has a triangular mirror inside a rectangular frame, with a few lines thrown in to accentuate the point. The Simplex Hydrangea, perhaps my favorite, has the same design but with an antiqued, color-washed mirror. Oh, and to make things even better, you can work with the designer to change up the colors to suit your specific taste. Fun.

GrowOya Watering Vessel

Did you know that surface watering is inefficient? Plants do best when they get water right at their roots. That’s just where the GrowOya aims, as it’s a terracotta vessel that’s buried mostly underground. Fill it every few days and water will naturally seep into the soil so roots can take just the right amount. You’ll be saving water and time- score!

Kartio Glassware

Glassware may not be the most exciting thing to you, but, hey, you use it every single day for your juice/water/spirits. You can’t go wrong with Iittala’s Kartio Collection, as the series dates back to 1958, when Kaj Franck first created their simple, balanced design. ButcherBlock by HollerDesign

These end grain ButcherBlocks are very durable; the design allows you to cut in between the fibers of the wood instead of across them like most cutting boards. This makes for easy maintenance and a very long lifetime, which are two important features for any cutting board over the $100 mark.

Cha Kettle Teapot

How many kettles look like they belong on a tablecloth amongst finger sandwiches and scones? Not too many. The stainless steel Cha Teapot was designed by Naoto Fukasawa- that’s worth mentioning, of course- and has a magnetic steel bottom that makes it suitable for induction cooking. A simple curved handle and knob in black thermoplastic resin completes the design.

Falling Line Rug

Another exciting (if you think rugs are exciting) product from good thing is the Falling Line Rug by Sam Anderson. How so? Well, the hand-woven rugs strike the right balance of color and pattern without overwhelming the senses. There’s a little of a digital/pixel feel that keeps it modern while the mostly neutral hues will work well with your existing pieces.
